Tomorrow, Barbadians will go to the polls to elect a government. Many issues have been discussed and opinions shared in recent months. Over the years, Barbadians have taken great pride in the fact that we have always conducted ourselves on election day with dignity. Barbados Underground have already alluded in previous articles to what we sense is the changing face of politics in our country. We have observed the impact of globalization and CSME on the demographics of Barbados. One of the glaring changes must be how multi-cultural we have become with the large influx of people from other countries. We have been told that this is the inevitable and we must embrace it for what it is — a changing world.
We do not intend to bombard our readers today with anyone of the several issues which we like to write about. No sensible Barbadian can expect that the events that will unfold in the next 24 hours will not affect their lives. The apathy among Barbadians, especially our youth, directed at how they view politics is not healthy. A democracy is not something civic minded Barbadians should treat lightly. The distinguishing characteristic of Barbados over the years has been how successfully Barbadians have managed to govern our tiny island in the post-independence era given our limited resources. The changing face of the world economy will offer our small island untold challenges as we continue to protect our rich legacy of good rule. One tiny part of why Barbados has been successful in our governance of the little rock has been the integrity of our voting system. It is one which has been observed as a model for other countries and in recognition, Barbadians have been called-out to observe elections in other countries.
Our next post will be Barbados Election Watch 2008. We invite all Barbadians to visit BU around 6PM tomorrow, Tuesday, as we participate in our wonderful democracy by posting your comments. Please take pictures of any activity which you believe is abnormal at this time; you are welcome to email them to us. Let us go out tomorrow 15 January 2008 and vote to protect our democracy. Abstaining from the process will be a cowardly act which any Barbadian should be ashamed.
Vote To Protect Your Democracy!

It is so disenfranchising to Barbadians living abroad that there is no provision for them to vote even when they live in countries with fully functioning High Commissions.
It makes me a lot pissy that I can vote in both USA presidential and UK elections no matter where I live, but can’t vote in the elections of the country of my birth, in spite of being a registered voter.

“Please take pictures of any activity which you believe is abnormal at this time and you are welcome to email them to us.”
We will report this TODAY to the Electoral and Boundaries Commission and also to the Police.
You will NOT be allowed to set the stage for posting FAKE PHOTOS and creating confusion when your DLP party loses.

LEADERSHIP
The true test of leadership comes during difficult times for the leader and his team.
In January 2006 the former DLP Opposition Leader Clyde Mascoll, the BLP’s most strident critic, in a move unprecedented in Caribbean Politics, crossed the floor to joint the bosom of Owen Arthurs’ Cabinet. Independent analysts stated that it had so devastated the DLP and left it in utter shambles that the party would take a very long time to ever become a political force to be reckoned with in Barbados.
In less than 23 months the DLP under the astute leadership of David Thompson has been transformed to so potent a Political Unit, that is now seen as a viable alternative to the BLP.
In this his second phase of Political Leadership, there in no doubt that David Thompson has displayed the substance that those ultimately rated as good leaders are made of.

TYRANT AT LARGE
In his first term as Prime Minister The Right Honourable Prime Minister Owen S. Arthur called a journalist carrying out his professional duties an “Indentured Servant”. This was followed by constant uncalled for attacks berating private citizens during speeches in the House of Assembly. He reserved these attacks for persons who shared opposing views or who were retired members or supporters of present or past DLP governments. The attack on Harold Hoyte who was called a Negrocrat for sharing his professional opinions remains etched in our minds. Recent attacks on Peter Wickham, Professor Dr. Don Marshall, journalist Chris Gollop among others, speak to the desperation of a leader who no longer serves but one who Rules. Private Citizens often give details of intimidatory telephones calls they receive from the Prime Minister, in which they are verbally abused and harassed in the filthiest language imaginable. These are all the preparation signs of a future dictator.
At his nomination on 16th December ’07 at the Alexandra School, he was ushered in to the school hall to the strains of the Gospel Song “You Raise Me Up”, a song that is reserved for and sung to God in praise. How could any ordinary man have such a song played in honour of him and to announce his arrival ? Is he and his BLP supporters now likening him to Almighty God ? Where is Rev Joseph Atherley’s voice of disapproval toward this disgraceful act ?
It gets even worse, he criticises our National Hero The Right Excellent Errol W Barrow over comments he alleged that Mr. Barrow made. How sad that someone who has been accorded the highest National Honour that can be bestowed on any of our citizens is now being criticised publicly by our Prime Minister. Does Mr. Arthur not realise that were it not for Mr. Barrow’s timely foresight, persons like him may not have benefited from an educational structure that laid the foundation for him to become a Prime Minister ?
Not satisfied, he threatens the core of our Democratic System of governance by arrogantly pronouncing, “ I am motivated in a special way by the determination never to see the DLP hold the reigns of office in this land ”. This appears a blatant attempt to use some method to manipulate our political system to erase any opposition to his ‘Ruling of Barbados’. This leaves no doubt, what his so called Politics of Inclusion was and is all about. In spite of all of these recent signs and the long trail of perceive dictatorial ambitions, those in the critical areas of the Church, Media, Educational Institutions, Social Groups, NGO’s etc. remain mute.
Let us hope that on the eve of a General Election their silence does not contribute to a situation we all live to regret. We owe thanks to those who still have a tongue to speak and who ensure that we preserve our democratic rights. Goliath once used terror to subdue his challengers as they were in fear and awe of him but David through divine inspiration conquered. Fear not Humble Citizens trust in God and you will conquer over Arrogant Self Proclaim King Arthur.

WHAT A CARING LEADER
Caring Leaders continuously talk with those who they lead. Caring leaders don’t forsake their people, throw them to the wolves and then come back to them almost a year later because they need these same people to help them with their political survival.
Where was Prime Minister Owen Arthur since his budget presentation of March 2007 ??? Where was his voice when we needed him most ?? When others were saying that something needed to and could be done about the high cost of living, where was he ???
Where was his voice regarding:
The calls for Transparency and Accountability
The Government’s Provision and Ensuring of Affordable Land and Housing for Citizens
The QEH MESS and General problems in provision of Health Care
The Declining Behaviour and Attitudes in our School System
The Decline in the achievement of CXC certification among boys
The Expansion of the drug culture and the brazen public drug use seen among our youth
The Road Horrors experienced by our motorists
The Public Transport Problems and BAD ‘ON ROAD’ behaviour of Private PSV workers
The Serious Problems with Poverty that Dame Olga Spoke about on 19th Dec 2007
The Need for Vendors to be adequately accommodated and located
The Demise of the Small Used Car Businesses
The failings of CWC World Cup despite its’ high cost and many unfulfilled promises
The Hardwood Issue
The High Costs Overruns of Government
The Allegations about Contract Builders like Veco (prison) and 3 S’s (ABC highway)
Suddenly as the election was drawing near, he tries to give a little ease here and there with some food items and the light bill costs, after saying that the DLP’s idea of selective price control could not work He now wants to talk with us at Town Hall Meetings.
MAYBE HE WAS TOO BUSY PUTTING TOGETHER HIS GRAND PLAN TO ENSURE HIS 16TH DEC 2007 PUBLICLY STATED DESIRE, “TO NEVER AGAIN SEE THE DLP HOLD THE REINS OF OFFICE IN THIS LAND”
WHAT A THREAT TO OUR DEMOCRACY !!! NO WONDER HE HARASSES AND CURSES THOSE WHO PUBLICLY OPPOSE HIM OR HIS GOVERNMENT.
ERIC GAIRY OR FORBES BURNHAM COULD NOT HAVE SAID IT ANY BETTER

WHO PLAYED A BIG ROLE IN CAUSING PRICE OF OUR LAND TO BE SO HIGH ?
Prime Minister Arthur once said that he must sell land to pay our bill (debts), even though it is now one of the famous things he has said publicly and then denied saying. He further stated that it is the citizens of Barbados that have pushed the price up by selling our land to foreign investors.
If you were a foreign investor would spend millions to buy land in Barbados, conduct a feasibility or environmental impact study for a major development like condos, town-houses or a water park unless you first had at least a verbal agreement from our government that you could develop that land for the purpose intended ??? We think not !!!!!
Would could you talk to about getting that verbal permission ?? The Chief Town Planner. But he or she could not operate without submitted architectural drawings and the relevant studies conducted. What about the Minister of Housing ?? Very Unlikely !!!
What about the MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR TOWN PLANNING ???? Why of course!! after all this Minister sets policy for the land use in the island and when the rich foreign investors start threatening to take their projects to other islands there is a need to act swiftly.
Mr. Investor, we can now see why you buy our land and almost immediately after it is bought you are able to swiftly start your multi – million dollar projects, causing the value of nearby land to climb steeply out of the reach of our citizens.
Yes we sold our land to you Mr. Investor but you were aided in your decision to purchase our lands by the MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR TOWN PLANNING AND HIS LAND USE POLICY OR LACK THEREOF.
WHO IS THIS MINISTER ?? RIGHT HON. OWEN S ARTHUR. FOUND GUILTY !!!

WHAT NEW HOSPITAL ???? !!!!
On the Eve of a General Election Health Minister Jerome Walcott announced that this BLP government would build a new hospital at a cost of $700 million Barbados dollars.
We can’t be fooled, we are educated. How can any government arrive at a cost for a project as major as the building of a hospital without the following? :
No Architectural Drawings of the Proposed Hospital
No T&CP Approved Architectural Building Plans
No Environmental Impact Studies
No Independent Quantity Surveyors Reports
No Tenders for the Construction of the Hospital
AFTER ALLOWING HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT AT THE QEH AND OUR POLYCLINICS TO DETERIORATE TO AN UNACCEPTABLE LEVEL, USING ELECTION GIMMICKS WILL NOT WORK !!!!!!
Our citizens deserve better treatment than the arrogance displayed by the outgoing government.
HEALTH CARE IS SICK – VOTE FOR A CHANGE IN ITS’ TREATMENT !!!!!!!

WHAT A CARING LEADER
The Arthur administration cares so much about our cricket loving nation that they hardly allow us to view cricket for free on CBC TV channel 8 at the best of times. When almost all of our regional neighbours are watching our beloved game free of cost, Barbadians have to install MCTV, pay a monthly subscription and sometimes booking fees just to see how our boys are doing. With the high cost of living, finding this money is not easy and this has led to the exclusion of many of our elderly pensioners and those of us with small wages.
With an election at our doorstep, “News Flash !!” we can now see cricket for free on MY TV Channel 8. What disdain and indifference toward us tax payers, whose tax dollars assist in the running of CBC !!!
The plot gets better when you realise that the Minister responsible for CBC is the only person who could have called the election, Prime Minister Owen S Arthur.
Why should you vote for more of the same ???????
VOTE TO CHANGE THINGS BOUT HERE !!!!!

POVERTY WHERE DO WE STAND ????
The government has boasted of its record regarding Alleviation of Poverty. Indeed government lauds itself about our achievement as the number one developing country in the world according to the United Nations Human Development Index, claiming reduced poverty statistics.
Reminder
From in the early 90’s under Former Prime Minister Sir LLoyd Sandiford, we were rated as the number one developing country in the world, so this is nothing new .
Reality Check
On 19th Dec 07 Dame “ Auntie” Olga Lopes-Seale said that ‘More women and children are living in poverty in Barbados’. While saying she maintained no statistics she stated that she was seeing an increase in poverty while doing her work in charity. (See Back page of Daily Nation of 20th Dec 07)
WOW!!!! Who do you believe????
Dame Olga is a lady of impeccable integrity and can certainly be trusted. We need not say anymore !!!!!

Court battle over secret export commissions claims· Company accused of circumventing bribery law· Ex-manager denies kickbacks and fraud

One of the richest families in Britain is being accused in a courtroom battle of circumventing anti-bribery laws. The Mabey family firm, whose worldwide empire is based on exports of steel bridges, is accused by its former sales manager of misconduct in sales to Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Panama.
The former manager, Jonathan Danos, says that large secret payments of “commissions” to middlemen were artificially split to make them look smaller, and thus avoid official scrutiny.
Article continues
________________________________
In all three countries, there was no competitive bidding for contracts, profits were alleged by him to be exceptionally high, and the money had to be borrowed from commercial banks, adding to the heavy debts of poor countries.
Many of Mabey’s sales are backed by the British taxpayer. The loans were guaranteed by the Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD), which is part of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
While Danos is making accusations against the company, he himself is being sued by the firm for allegedly pocketing hundreds of thousands of pounds for himself in corrupt kickbacks on the deals.
Mabey got a freezing order preventing the sale of Danos’s luxury home in Notting Hill, west London, last year and went to court. The high court said in a preliminary hearing there was “strong prima facie evidence” of fraud by him.
But Danos, who was awarded the MBE in 2000 for services to British exports, has denied all the claims, and retaliated by filing a detailed account of the devices he alleges were used by the firm to get around anti-bribery laws passed by the British government.
Excessive commissions are a common means of passing on bribes. As a result, British and US authorities generally frown on payments above 5%.
Danos claims that he was ordered to divide an 8.5% commission to be passed to a Jamaican businessman, Deryk Gibson, into two parts – a commission of 5%, and another 3.5% for non-existent “local services”. He was also ordered, he alleged, to similarly split a 17% commission for a deal in the Dominican Republic, where the agent is named as a local businessman, Gilberto Pagan. In a third set of deals, in Panama, commissions were paid at 15%, he alleged, to a bank account in the Bahamas allegedly controlled by another agent, Rogelio Dumanoir.
The Jamaica allegations will be particularly dismaying for the ECGD. Its advisory council conducted a special review of the £17m Jamaica guarantee in 2003, under pressure from anti-corruption campaigners, and concluded: “There is no great cause for concern.”
The then trade minister, Richard Caborn, said at the time: “I am pleased … This work will benefit the people of Kingston and rural areas”.
A Mabey director, Richard Glover, later unsuccessfully tried to persuade the ECGD that the firm should be allowed to keep its agents’ identities secret.
He wrote in 2005: “Exporters should be free to pay legitimate commissions to their agents without the burden of the obligation to provide ECGD with details that are often confidential and commercially sensitive.”
In his court filings, Danos paints in rarely seen detail a picture of a company that regularly paid huge sums to confidential agents to make sales around the world, although he does not directly accuse them of bribery. He says the firm’s founder, Bevil Mabey, who is 90, “established close relationships with high-level officials … and even in some cases vice-presidents and presidents”.
But when Britain passed an anti-bribery law in 2001, the founder’s son, David Mabey, changed the company’s procedures. Danos says he was told the “artificial split” in commission was “as a result of a need to comply with” the law, the Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act 2001. US lawyers gave advice, Danos claimed, that commissions above 5% would also lead to suspicions by the US authorities of “bribery or inducements”.
The Mabey companies have previously been accused by anti-corruption campaigners of overcharging for sales of bridges and flyovers in the Philippines and Papua New Guinea.
They are still also under investigation by the Serious Fraud Office over allegations of kickbacks paid to the Saddam regime in the oil-for-food scandal. The UN Volcker report alleged that Mabey paid $202,000 (about £102,000) in return for a $3.6m Iraqi contract. The company says there is no truth in the allegations.
The Mabey family is estimated to be worth £310m. The most recent accounts show family members drew out £7m in personal dividends in the last year. The company regularly donates to the Conservative party.
A spokesman for Mabey said: “This case is about an alleged fraud on the company. We take the strongest possible action against employees and former employees who breach our policy or the law.
“This case is not about allegations of bribery and corruption. However, we have not, do not and will not pay or authorise the payment of bribes or any other form of unlawful inducement. We have a comprehensive anti-corruption policy with procedures which are vigorously enforced.”
Mabey is negotiating with Danos in private to try to settle the case before it comes to court.
Anti-corruption campaigner Sue Hawley, of the Corner House group, said last night: “Mabey has consistently been accused of sharp practices, and untransparent contract procedures.
“If companies can evade scrutiny of their commission payments by hiding them away as ‘local services’, this would blow a very large hole in the ECGD’s anti-corruption processes.”

The People's Democratic Congress // January 14, 2008 at 10:45 AM
This election campaign in Barbados will undoubtedly be recogized and remembered by many voters in Barbados as one in which millions upon millions in Barbados dollars, would have been spent by the two traditional parties on mind altering advertising, radio, print television, posters, flyers, and on distortive political/entertainment shows. The two newer prties have been totally drown out by these big happenings. But, as serious people, our party – PDC – must say what we have to say and say so forthrightly and truly.
When our state of Barbadian politics could be so mindlessly and cruelly reduced to such putrefying levels of millions upon millions in Barbados dollars being spent by these parties and their big accomplices to primarily capture the attention of the masses and middle classes of voters and making these classes of persons really feel as though their lives will completely be evolved with the coming to office of either of these old parties, it tells us – we Barbadians – where we are heading to unless – the People Democratic Congress comes to power in the future in this country. For now, though, we are heading down the drain to a relegated banana republican status with all of its negative and prejorative connotations for, et al, greater cultural decadence, greater political exploitation and oppression of our people, and the potential for serious social unrest. With some of these big donors of finance capital using these dollars to get these parties and esp. their leaderships, to enter into written and spoken arrangements, or even unwitten and unspoken arrangements – which we the Barbadian public nevertheless would not know about or will not know anything about – but which would be arrangements that may or will eventually see our people’s and our country’s affairs being severely compromised by these leaders and their prime supporters under the pretences of elections being conducted freely and fairly – which really is NOT the case – must be a state of affairs that is very disturbing and disgusting to our PDC and that must be so too for other right thinking people in Barbados.
So, while many voters are now catching this election fever in whatever ways, and through traditional party election gimmicks and vote catching techniques, it seems very likely that our political destinies as a masses and middle classes of people in Barbados are being grossly detracted from or distorted by these traditional parties and these persons with big money to spend in view of both of their ultimate and crass aim of wanting to achieve, and continuing to exercise, at that, greater political power over us perpetually. But, because we (the masses and middle classes generally)will not be able to see brighter and better under this present political order, and because we have NOT mastered the art and science of political resistance, it will be mainly be because of some party political leaders who are apparently are so close to us but who are realistically so far away from us, and who are prepared to fail us again and again and right in front of our own eyes, that we are in the kinds of positions we are in today politically socially, and at this election time.
And, the better sections of the masses and middle classes had better wake up and fight their own battles and struggles on their own baehalf in this intercine political conflict in Barbados. This is no sour grapes story, simply the truth!!

Where is all of the additional waste mattter going and the water consumption coming from to accommodate these highrises??? It’s wonderful to think of the amount of money that has been collected in transfer tax etc from these rich foreigners but what will these “fields and hills beyond recall” get back in return for allowing them the priviledge of using our natural resouces?
You know you really benefits?? That’s who benefit,, so please Bajans wake up and put that X in the right place!!!

I was in Bridgetown this afternoon from 12:30 to 5:30.
I took special note of the colour of clothes that people (excluding obvious tourists) were wearing, trying to see if the wearing of party colours could indicate anything about the outcome of tomorrow’s election. The DLP colour is yellow and the BLP colour is red.
I saw some people in yellow, and of those probably less than a quarter were wearing the yellow “We wid dem” T-Shirts.
There were far more people wearing red, especially bright red, and the majority of them were women. Some men wore red shirts, and a few wore red caps.
There were probably four times as many people wearing red than wearing yellow, though people wearing other colours was about ten times as much as the reds.

I believe that the possibility of David Thompson and the DLP gaining power in Barbados has galvanised those who are determined to stop them from taking power in this country.
I passed through Victoria St. and heard a vendor calling out “Time for Change” though few seemed to either display willingness to show support or opposition, and later I heard a man loudly calling out “Smut out de Bees” as a vehicle passed advertising the DLP meeting tonight. But inside a store I heard a group of young ladies saying that they would not leave out sure for unsure. On the way out of the city I passed trucks laden with red-clad BLP supporters on the back of trucks headed for Bay St.
I heard a lot of people saying that they will be going out to vote from six in the morning tomorrow. From all indications, it will be a very heavy turnout. The BLP campaign has matched everything the DLP has done. Both camps will come out in their numbers, but everything I sense tells me that the majority of the ones who are keeping quiet are the ones who are silently determined to keep their future and the future of this country firmly in BLP hands.

If i were the BLP i would be worried if the voter turnout is huge.

The Prime Minister as a leader keeps putting himself in the same league as God and Jesus. It is with much excitement and relief that ELECTION DAY is upon us.
With it it has brought many challenges to our Democracy, when we have 250 persons removed from the voters list in ASSCOLL’s area these are those persons more likely to want to vote for the DLP candidate Chris, and then we have the most dishonest action todate of Tryone Barker having his family added only today.
When you see actions such as these it begs the question are we really living in a DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY or a DICTATORSHIP?
The DLP closed off the season in a massive style tonight with what police estimated to be between 38,000 and 40,000 persons attending this MASS MEETING I say well done to the organisers of the event and congrats to Mr David Thompson and his team for a job well done, they did a total destruction of Owing and the blp on Wednesday evening, this evening was the burial.
Good riddance to the rubbish that was the last gov’t.
Wishing in Vain // January 15, 2008 at 1:33 AM
Now, now Jerome you are naughty, the police figure was 40,000.

OWEN AND THE BEES HAVE BEEN WEIGHED IN THE BALANCE AND FOUND WANTING
YOU ARE NOT A BEE! TO THOSE PERSONS WHO ONCE VOTED FOR THE BLP AND ARE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ARTHUR ADMINISTRATION, ESPECIALLY OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS
Several people are agonising over a decision as to whether they should continue to support the Barbados Labour Party in light of its massive failure in its last term of office. These persons cannot accept the behaviour of the Arthur Administration during this period where its policies and actions did nothing but created hardship and disappointment for them. People who voted for the BLP in the 2003 election are justifiably annoyed at:
The government’s failure to deal in an effective manner with the crippling cost of living, after first saying that there was nothing that could be done.
The BLP promoting the sale of our scarce land resources to non Barbadians
The high price of land and houses putting them out of the reach of ordinary Barbadians, especially young people
The BLP’s failure to deal with the poor state of our health and other services
The neglect of basic infrastructure such as roads, drainage and the inconvenience caused by this neglect
The waste of tax payer’s money on dubious projects while neglecting basic amenities for ordinary people
The massive and unexplained cost overruns where the money could have been spent on social needs
The decline in good Barbadian values and the acknowledgement by Mr Arthur that Barbados now has a “bashment” culture.
There is hope for such people. They need to know why they feel conflicted by the situation and where they can turn for help. BLP supporters have suffered, and are suffering, like all the other Barbadians who are now demanding change in government. After Tom Adams won the 1976 election, mainly on the grounds that the DLP had been in office for too long and that there was need for a stronger opposition, he conceived a strategy to crystalise his support. He persuaded those persons who had voted for him and the BLP that they were Bees and those who did not vote for him were Dees. He created a mythical bond between those persons who had voted for the BLP and the party itself. Several people bought into this artificial division. The political polarisation of this country was the result. The BLP was never interested in political education after this. The Adams’ strategy has divided families and communities which have common needs and concerns.
It has created political differences where no philosophical, social, cultural, or economic differences exist. The BLP encourages and thrives in such an environment. The BLP does not initiate action on, and tries not to debate the issues that concern ordinary people. They did not respond to the issues raised in the Hardwood case. They did not take the lead in dealing with high prices, the land issue, quality of care at the QEH, social decay, and the host of other matters that ordinary people complain about. The BLP wants the country to concentrate on matters such as leadership, on who has an experienced team, on republican status for Barbados, and on all the irrelevant things that do not improve the quality of people’s lives. They supplement this with hand outs, political attacks and propaganda at election time. The BLP plays down issues you have a stake in, and in which you are interested for your own welfare. That is the fundamental difference between the DLP and the BLP.
The DLP is people centred. It focuses on the social and economic issues that affect you. People are invited to think about and comment on the issues that concern them. The DLP is not about itself. The Democratic Labour Party is about making life better for Barbadians. During the early 1990’s the DLP introduced a number of measures which restructured the Barbados economy and secured the rate of the Barbados dollar. In 1994 several people who felt aggrieved by the 8% pay cut decided to withdraw their support from the DLP. They thought that they were operating in their best interest. That was their prerogative. Everyone has a right to do this. When you find that the policies and actions, or lack of action of the government are putting you at a disadvantage you are entitled to look after the interest of your family and yourself. Politics is about you, the people. Every election gives an opportunity for you to assess what is best for you.
Every election is like a new beginning. If you cannot accept what the BLP has done and is doing you have a responsibility to support what will make life better for you and your family. You do not have to blindly follow anyone. You need to think for yourself. Once you have thought about your situation you will find comfort in the policies of the Democratic Labour Party. You will find that the DLP’s policies and emphases have your interests in mind.
You will like what the Democratic Labour Party will be doing for:
Families
Children and Young People
Women
Senior citizens
Workers
Communities
You will like what the Democratic Labour Party is proposing to:
Reduce the cost of living
Educate our children
Ensure adequate health and other social services
Provide Barbadians with affordable land and adequate housing
Develop and promote sporting activities
You will be pleased that the Democratic Labour Party will be:
Ensuring a sound and sustainable economy
Protecting our way of life
Securing our democracy
Looking after your interest and making your life more comfortable
Help the Democratic Labour Party to help you: Vote in your interest. You are not a BEE!

B F P E // January 15, 2008 at 8:12 AM
Clyde Mascoll sang so sweetly last night at the BLP political meeting.
“Stay as sweet as you are”
I hope that after today I can see (or even purchase) a video of that political meeting at Bay Street last night. What a massive sea of red. The crowd must have been somewhere between 10 to 20 thousand.
Would have loved to see what the DLP event looked like, but of course DLP-TV ain’t ready yet, and frauds and liars like Jerome Hinds and Wishing in Vain will never tell the truth about the real number of people who attended any DLP meeting.
Democracy in Barbados is alive and well.
I remain quietly hopeful for a MASSIVE BLP VICTORY over the DLP tonight. The turning point for this entire campaign was that rain soaked “night stand” at Eagle Hall when the BLP massive in its thousands showed this nation our firm determination and solid resolve. Thousands upon thousands of red-clad supporters standing firm in pouring rain for hours…. It was that awesome sight which emboldened the Bees and caused the Dems to panick.

It will be a BLP victory today!

My greatest hope is that regardless of the election result, Mr. In Vain stops Wishing and starts thinking before churning out massive amounts of dull propoganda online. It almost made me vote against the DLP. Enough already.

I have had no luck in calling elections, none at all, and yet i am set to give my predictions again. :D :D
Both polls, the real one and the mock one predicted a swing against the BLP between 4.5% up 9.9% and unless the swing is on the high end, and base on the 2003 results i am predicting a 17 13 BLP win. Lynch gone and Richard Sealy gone, Jones gone wiht Farley Marginal.

Since it is more likely that the Dems might win the Government. How about the the compilation of the cabinet.
David Thompson – Prime Minister
Richard Sealy – Minister of Health
Michael Lashley – Minister of Housing
Ronald Jones – Minister of Sports
David Estwick – Minister of Finance
Denis Kellman – Minister of Agriculture
Esther Byer-Suckoo Minister of Education
Adrian Loveridge – Minister of Tourism
Freudel Stuart – Attorney General

Dees St. John
Bees St. Joseph | Marshall won by 78 votes in 2003, can’t sustain or build that up against a swing
Dees St. Andrew | Payne hasn’t change since 2003 when he won by more than 1300 votes
Bees St. Thomas
Bees St. James North
Bees St James Central | Kerrie won by 223 votes in 2003 I don’t think he can sustain that margin
Bees St. Peter
Dees St. Lucy
Dees St. George South
Bees St. George North
Dees St. Michael Central
Dees St. Michael South
Dees St. Michael South Central | Sealy win by 176 in 03, people are happy with their title deeds and going with Gill.
Bees St Michael South East
Dees St. Michael West Central
Bees St. Michael West | The Rev can’t sustain or build on that 177 win in 03
Bees St. Michael North
Bees St. Michael North West
Bees St. Michael North East
Bees St. Michael East
Bees City | I think Todd can over come 332 votes and a visit from a Mottley
Dees Christ Church West Central
Bees Christ Church West
Dees Christ Church East Central | Jones know he is in trouble, it will be close he should have been able to defend 280 votes and build on it, but……
Bees Christ Church East | should be able to pull it of but some citizens mobilize against him. Plus he paid 40,000 in 03 to buy a 322 vote win, not convincing.
Dees Christ Church South
Dees St. Philip North
Bees St. Philip South
Dees St. Philip West
What are your four Marginals?

These massive numbers and high voter turnout only mean one thing….
Bajans are determined to STOP David Thompson and the DLP from ever taking power in this country.
That’s why I went out to vote so early.
heard a girl say she voted for the BLP because she wanted Owen to win, but she does not like the BLP candidate for her constituency and he does nothing for them.
I saw so many young men and women going in and out of polling stations.
News reports give estimates of 75% to 80%.

So Adrian Loveridge-Minister of Tourism, I guess I will finally get a glimpse of this iconic hotel operator. By the way you remember that I said that a man from Barbados lived by me and he was sweet and nice. He never married you know, but he lived in a cute cottage in Guyana and had a beautiful garden. Oh that man could grow nice roses and such. He made a lot of money in West Guyana working in the gold fields, gave it all away to Guyanese in need. So now I am wondering if he was one of those types that you all worried about in Barbados. he never married and came to Guyana age 20 and left at 78 in 1968. Well I like Owen Arthur sorry he did not win, but he did a good job. Mia in 2013 YEAH Go Mia Go Mia

One only needed to be present in the FARM HOUSING AREA yesterday afternoon to see how our former leader Owing and ASSCOLL set about to corrupt the political system by the buying of votes, they carried a black carry on bag filled with cash to the people of the FARM thankfully these same voters in many cases took the money and then voted for the DLP.
Thank you for not allowing the corruption thatwas owing to distort your vision for a new beginning.

I gather Adrian Hinds and most of the people here are of the same as Adrian Loveridge. And as for David Thompson now he is mostly of a certain race with a little bit of us, right. Is it true that Mark Williams was arrested by the police in Deacons Farm yesterday.
Do you believe that the intervention and presence of the police early yesterday in the farm is what stem the tide of the vote tiefing and rigging scheme that was going on there?
I believe when this election euphoria is over bajans will have to take a long look at how owen arthur has destroyed the moral fabric of this nation;how he exploited poor hungry people by offering them a price for everything.
A price for your vote,a price to cross the floor,a price to remain silent and not criticise,a price to tief to allow them the politicians to tief taxpayers money.
Lord put a hand – the dodds jail will be to good for the likes of owen arthur and his band of tiefs.

Oh Sister Baby i forgot, didn’t at some point your Guyana had as a president a WHITE AMERICAN WOMAN???
Sister Baby // January 16, 2008 at 12:29 PM
Yes Adrian, I see you are indeed tall, handsome and black. I can tell you are very scholarly also. And the person kneeling in front left must be Adrian Loveridge. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Yes we had Mrs. Jagan as our president, but she was deserving of the office since she gave up a wonderful life in America to come to these shores and live amongst rapist, yes in fact last week in North Guyana a 44 year old woman was raped by a 16 year old East Indian Guyanaese lad/male/whatever, choke and rob, thats the Guyanese word for thieves, murderers, and many mad people, so you see she deserved it. Did you all hear that last year a mentally ill East Indian woman was killed in broad daylight in East Guyana because residents mistook her for an old higue. Look, life in mudland is not life in London, but even in a failed state there is happiness, for Guyana is the 35th happiest nation on earth, yes, and I think Barbados is below us. Anyway, Adrian, the lastest from the failed state is the we are now doing open heart surgery and on Saturday last a young Bajan had a successful procedure here, and I might add is recovering quite well under the care of Guyanese doctors and nurses. The only concern I have is her return to BGI on LIAT. Great elections! So nice and orderly. And thanks for sharing the photos.

Tell us about the former minister of toursim Noeless Blarney Lynch when he recently received a bill for construction work done on his housefor the sum of $ 20,000.00 and how he called the contractor and told him that he Lynch was the owner of a million dollar home and why would he the contractor send he Lynch a bill for $ 20,000.00 and that he the contractor could take the bill and stuff it where the sun does not shine.
That was a ploy that may have worked prior to yesterday, my advice to you Mr Comtractor is to move to seek your payment right away failing this to seek legal action against this scamp and a crook via the Law Courts of Barbados.
Time is longer than Twine my friend Lynch.

Please give some background information on the new PM David Thompson. For example where was he born, who are his parents, and where were they born. The reason I am asking is because in the 60’s a man named Mr. Adrian Thompson was one of the head men at Bookers, an English Company in Guyana. Mr. Thompson left Guyana during the disturabances in the early for another country, which I believe is Barbados. And when I went to the website of the DLP and I saw Mr. David Thompson I thought to myself I know this face, he looks like Mr. Adrian Thompson, of course I did not know Mr. Thompson, I saw him as he would walk by we would say oh there is Mr. Thompson we had better start working before they knock us off. Anonymous, Thank you, but he looks so familiar to me. Here is a story for you. A man wrote to the Guyanese Chronicle letter section stating that wages should be lowered in so that all able bodied Guyanese can have a job. The chickens used were white feathered chickens. Here is another one, the Hon. President divorced his wife, but she still lives at Guyana House in a different section, well she went to Trinidad and when she came back he had taken away her Guyana Government motor car, so now the ex wife has to walk around Georgetown to get to her office and it is about 5 miles walking round trip daily. Now here is the former wife of the leader walking around Georgetown, but still living at Guyana House. I hope she doesn’t get choke and robbed in the streets of Georgetown. Oh they looking for a re-placement for the late Sir Oliver Jackman, who was Guyana’s good neighbour ambassador at large. Do you want the job Annoymous.
