The truth is that the new CBC website was to be launched before the election period. However due to elections the launch date was delayed. While this post is in no way made to undermine what Mr. Parris may do for the CBC, the facts need to be correctly stated.

And just in case you are thinking that maybe the public hasn’t made any contributions yet, think again, because I have, when the site first changed over, and my contribution is yet to appear.

It looks as thought CBC-TV and the assigned admin could care less about the viewers and what they have to say. Maybe their primary goal was to make the site look more appealing than it originally looked.

While I agree that it is a much better thought out website, with advertising in mind, there are still some areas that need work.

1. The TV8 listings are still terrible, and don’t even reflect the actual lineup in many cases.

2. If you are serious about having a Blog section, you have to be prepared to populate it with content.

3. The forums give the illusion that CBC cares about it’s viewers and listeners. Upon closer inspection, you’ll see that the only one who has posted in the forum is the administrator. And just in case you are thinking that maybe the public hasn’t made any contributions yet, think again, because I have, when the site first changed over, and my contribution is yet to appear.

We tried get an interview with someone from CBC regarding this new site, because we thought it was a step in the right direction, but no one has responded to us. We like the site, but if there’s one thing we can say for sure, it’s that you can’t run the type of site they are trying to run, without having a genuine care for people.

The web site is fine but there are aspects of the online tv section that have been giving trouble for the past month and a half. I have contacted the people at Jump TV and though they have replied that they have received and are going to address the problem, I still can’t get to see the news, or any other ‘programme on demand’ like I used to.

The radio stations and the advertisements seem to work just fine.

Tony. Why don’t you speak out against Jerome and WIV who not only use insinuating remarks but some of the worst derogative statement towards a former Prime Minister. I do agree that we should respect others and move away from character assassination. But remember, it goes both ways. Think about it.

I do not see you come on this forum and try to make derogatory comments about them. Mr. Parris must have a modicum of commonsense to have gotten this far in his business life. We always try to pull down one another. Remember teamwork is important. He has excellent board members and even if he is weak in certain areas they are not going to let him fail. I commend BU for giving credit where credit is due.

Come on BU, Jerome and WIV. What is there to gloat about regarding this new website.

For your information CBC set up an office to deal with the web over a year ago and as usual, these same workers who are now getting off their rear to do the work that was given to them. Should we reach the conclusion that it was sabotage?

This is the same attitude by civil servants who procrastinate when they government is not in power, this is what I call political sabotage. The reason for this blatant disregard of workers not displaying ‘fair practice’ must stop. As a matter of fact, workers who behave in this way instead of being professional should be weed out of the service.

Back to CBC and some statuary departments, these workers who had the mandate to improve CBC’s image and now find time to create and perform should let the public know if they behaviour was planned.
