Last night the news broke that Rihanna would not be able to honour her contract to perform as the opening act at the Grammy Awards ceremony. Almost immediately similar news followed that her American boy friend Chris Brown of about one year cancelled his appearance as well. Then early this morning the international news wires started to sizzle with the news of a possible domestic dispute between the two young international pop stars.

A tribute to the handlers of both stars is the fact that information about the reported incident in California last night has been kept under tight secrecy. Despite the blackout on information reports are starting to emerge of a bloodied and bruised Rihanna. The one fact known to the world which has been confirmed by American police is that Chris Brown “was booked by police on suspicion of making a felony criminal threat.”

Barbados is a small island driven to rumour easily. Last year many Barbadians heard the whispers that boy friend Chris Brown had demonstrated anger on many occasions when some of Rihanna’s male friends would visit. There is the biggest rumour of all that on one occasion the windows of her new SUV were smashed. Maybe the signs have always been there that Rihanna needed to step back.

BU has written blogs which have expressed our concern about Rihanna’s safety in the world of show biz. Here is an ordinary Bajan girl who was plucked from obscurity and dumped on the world stage, through which she has handled herself with class. The one worry we have had has been her need to associate with the tattooed splotched Chris Brown.  BU reconciled our concerns by observing the intoxicating success Rihanna has been able to achieve given her meteoric rise on the entertainment pop scene.

It has not been 48 hours since the incident and the reality for Chris Brown is that the American capitalist system has already set-in. The blogosphere is reporting that chewing gum manufacturers Wrigley has suspended a commercial with Brown. We continue to wonder if these young stars have brains, remember the great Michael Phelps caught pulling on a cannabis pipe recently?

Until more information is released we will withhold further comment. However incidents like this clearly show why the government maybe threading cautiously to aggressively marry the Rihanna brand with our tourism brand.

True it all Rihanna Barbados loves you!

  1. I have been tracking the blogs and other online news sources and I must say if in fact what we are hearing about the extent of Rihanna’s injuries indeed true then Chris was definitely wrong. What’s even worse are the reactions to the alleged incident- I must say I am shocked that soo many people are saying that she deserved it or are willing to make excuses for him. Makes you wonder … However as a fellow Bajan and woman all I can say is “In support of Rihanna”

  2. A man and a woman fight and they lookin’ to lock up the man.

  3. Just send him over here for us to deal with!! Plus, I’m convinced that American black men are idiots, anyway!!

    Dump the *hit, Rihanna, sweetie!!

  4. BAF, I think it MOST unlikely that Rihanna STARTED the fight, don’t you?!!

  5. Indecations are that Chris Brown got angry because Rihanna accused him of flirting at the party. Whether it was small country or immaturity jealousy, or whether she was right, he had NO RIGHT to hit her. As a father, I’m VERY angry about it, whether he’s a celrbraty or not, if that was my daughter, he would have to answer to me. I understandthis is not the first time it happened but God knows it would be the last. All I can say to the young lady is watch your steps and be very careful what you drink and who you associate yourself with right now. Hollywood can make and break you. So far you have had your head on, keep focussed and remember, dispite the haters, you’re MOST LOVED in Barbados. Don’t get involved in anything that would emmbarrass you or us here in Barbados. Rihanna WE LOVE YOU.

  6. http://www.tmz.com/

Law enforcement sources have now gotten specific with us… police took pictures of Rihanna’s injuries and they are “horrific.”

As we reported, the photos show major contusions on both sides of the singer’s face — there is serious swelling and bruising. Her lip is split and her nose bloody. We have now confirmed there are bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers.

And we now know this… Rihanna claims Brown struck her with his fists and that’s what did the damage. There was no object used in the alleged attack.

Rihanna refused treatment at the scene, but before she left cops took photos. We’re told the photos alone are “devastating proof of abuse.”

  7. Hope Mummy is on a plane.

  8. When last year some of us were talking about that good girl gone bad image and our fear that she would end up down the road of a britney spears or the like, others jumped on us.

Now sadly we see where this misguided ‘love for bad boys’ has taken her.

Somehow I think she is going to go right back with him.

  9. David
I think she’s is there already. Apparently, she left on an early flight yesterday. Also her Dad has flown in from Canada to be at her side. I hope Chris’ stepdad come to be on his side and tell the police how many times he has threatened his life, even though he deserves it.

  10. @The Scout

This is what BU was afraid of when we blogged our concerns last year. It must be tough for Rihanna travelling the world with relative strangers. Maybe Rihanna can take a page from Beyonce. Her mother is a permanent fixture in her tour party we understand.

  11. you’re MOST LOVED in Barbados.

Scout, and not only in Bim but here in the UK and worldwide!! I had my doubts about the wisdom of the liaison the moment I first heard of it and agree with everything which you and others have said about this! What a pity we can’t get our hands on the prat!! I opened the comments on BFP but they have n’t published my responses!

Riahanna deserves better than that moron. She’s worth ten times of him!!

  12. I wish her well. I hope she leaves his ass. More than likely he will not spend any time in prison but I hope she cleans him out. He is a punk. If you put a pig in a suit and put it in a living room to sit down it is still a pig.

  13. A wet bullpistle would turn that punk into a whimp in a hurry.

  14. Georgie Porgie

With all due respect to everyone, this girl is not the first Bajan women to get a beating. And she certainly wont be the last. What is all the fuss about? Women get beat up in Barbados everyday.

Are we saying that only when a woman who is an entertainer gets beaten that it is news worthy?

Before you all rant and rave, I am NOT saying that beating women is right. I am saying that it happens, it has happened from time immemorial, and will continue to happen.

Do Bajan men get beaten with wet bull pistles when they beat Bajan women?

  15. BAFBFP, Georgie Porgie,
My sentiments, the same, my darlinks.

    Much ado about nuttan.

    Stupseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  16. Well then lets open the debate about abuse of women in B’dos. i’m sure we will all be shocked to hear what is said. I mean lets be real not even the authorities (RBPF that is) respect women when they walk into a police station to report the abuse. Instead they are ridiculed or asked what they did to deserve it.

  17. Georgie Porgie

We should also debate the abuse against men too! The RBPF have even less respect for men who complain about abuse to them by females.

I can speak from my personal experiences of observing both male and female abuse.

  18. Anonymous,
Sometimes de said police try to ‘got’ de said complainant ta. and if she is gullible, well, anothe one bites de dust.

I have always told my sons not to strike a female but should she strike you first, well by all means , strike back thrice as hard. Some females that they have the God-given rite to hit a man and he should tek um. Oh yeah, a good ‘bitch-slap’ would work. I am not promoting violence just self-defence.

I agree with every word you said. Only this morning I was wondering why every one was in such a too doo I am not saying it was right but PLEASE we as women sometimes go through some bullshit at times. However, when we decide that it is over the man can sing a tune IT IS OVER!

  20. @All

The reason why the Rihanna plight would attract attention is simple, she is well known. Additionally the coverage generated by this incident in Barbados and worldwide can only help to expose physical/domestic abuse as a problem and encourage programs to address.

  21. Georgie Porgie

I have been seeing and hearing about physical/domestic abuse as a problem since I born, and I have not seen any problems to address it. You think that because someone beat up a singer that the world will change.

All the nonsense that has been written about this online is just that- nonsense. Maybe the young man will be punished, and life will go on.

If the girl is as jealous and controlling as some say she is, she will get some more warm licks again and again. And they wont be any programs started to do a thing about it.

We once had a prominent leader that used to beat his wife too, But that was hushed up, until at his funeral he was said to be a “fighter” at his eulogy — rather than a wife beater.

  22. lol hahahaha GP, people don’t like to deal with reality until it has to do with someone who is seen as ‘popular’ we should have been addressing this matter EVAH SINCE!

  23. G P/ B P
I,m disappointed in your responses. As far as I’m concerned no man has the right to hit a woman, it shows weakness in him. I have sons and they know, just like their Dad, how to treat a woman, I would never encourage my sons to hit a woman unless in a last resort self defence. Generally men hands are too quick to strike and if any man hit one of my daughters, he should get to the airport and fly to the untermost, most deserted parts of the earth or I’m coming for him and teach him how to treat a woman. Bonny Peppa, I hope it is not one of your sons are you will be left crying long long tears.

  24. Domestic abuse is taken far too lightly in Barbados. Too many men beat women . Far too mnay. Too many women mentally abuse men. Far too many. Maybe the publicity on the Rihanna issue can serve to wake us up on this issue. It is never OK to beat down a woman like that.

I hope Rihanna drops him …
She can do so much better than that little punk ass coward!

  25. GP are you saying that because domestic abuse has been around for ages that highlighting said abuse is a waste of time?

Are you aware of the practice of using prominent people to champion causes. In the case of Rihanna can’t see how her unfortunate predicament given her global face might do some good?

  26. My personal opinion is that NO MAN should hit a woman.

Yet, I think GP and my point is woman beating was around for ages! We NEED to make it an issue not just for famous persons BUT for all individuals!

  27. so what if we have not made it an issue until now….its never too late and now is as good a time as ever… stupse…

Clearly DV has been occuring since ever EVEN in hollywood but this case hits home and resonates because of who they are and how /when it occurred.!

  28. @JC

Surely you accept that prominent people will always bring attention to issues less prominent people can. It is why these people become spokes people for causes e.g Lance Armstrong for cancer.

  29. Georgie Porgie

Quid dixi scripsique, dixi scripsique. I stand by what I have said, and I make no apologies for what I have said.

I have read a lot of folk on the blogs saying no man must hit a woman, and if he does so it is a sign of weakness. But it seems OK for a woman to hit a man. It is not weakness in a woman to hit a man.

David I dont think that all this furore, because your pop star idol got a few lashes that this will do any good. I really dont. This will die down soon, as fast as a discarded ice cube in the sun, and it will be business as usual.

FYI. The women that I treated in prison for killing men in Barbados were released after a few years in Glendairy. The men that were unable to walk away, and killed women are still on death row. Life went on. There was no fuss made about the domestic abuse then.

I can write a book on the cases of domestic violence that I have seen. And it is biased in favor of women.

I dont believe we care about domestic violence. This furore is all about some one hitting our sweet little pop star idol. How dare anyone do that! Let him be drawn and quartered, tar and feathered. Carried to the cleaners, and dumped! Let him name be taken out of the book of life , for life. Let him go to jail and the key be thrown away. Let him go to hell, and on and on ad infinitum ad nauseamque.

At the same time, all the judge and jury are guilty of worse crimes, Im sure. Some posters here are already guilty of murder (as defined by Jesus in Mathew 5).

  30. Recnetly I was also taken up with the murder case in the Nation last week where the defenedent described a pattern of verbal/mental abuse by his wife (the victim) who he kiled after she threatened to throw hot oil on him.

These stories including the Rihanna/ Chris story clearly show that there are alot of broken down people out there that need psychological help…

  31. GP your bias is showing… the fact remains that men are usually physically stronger than women. So clearly a blow by a man to a woman will usually do more damage than the other way around. I agree that they are violent women. But why focus on that … I dont see Chris with any injury.

If Rihanna attacked him he being celay bigger and stronegr did not have to beat her up …

And yes as a Bajan I will proudly state that a two bit dumb ass ney-ney little boy pop idol had no right beating up on our RiRi even if she may have sassed him Bajan style…!

  32. Georgie Porgie

    @ me
What you report is much more common than you think. But not all men are able to walk away, or get to escape.

I will never forget the young man I saw, who was on so much medication for this that and the other because of the grinding he was getting from his wife.

  33. Scout,
How could you be disappointed with my comments when you by your own admission said that ‘….unless in a last resort self-defence’. We concur on that one so I don’t see how you are in disagreement.
Who’s to say that she didn’t initiate the spat?
We’re stereotyping this young man but let it be said that she is no angel either.
Brother Scout if a female strikes my son and he retaliates and ends up behind bars it would just reinforce my belief in relation to man vrs. woman in the judicial system. My ‘tears’ would be for EQUAL justice. That is all. We want EQUAL rights, don’t we?

  34. Georgie Porgie

    @ Me

I am not biased at all.
I dont care if men are usually physically stronger than women, or not.

Women have no right to strike men just as men ought not to strike women. What is fair for the goose ought to be fair for the gander.

Your bias on the other hand is clearly revealed by your statement that

And yes as a Bajan I will proudly state that a two bit dumb ass ney-ney little boy pop idol had no right beating up on our RiRi even if she may have sassed him Bajan style…!

So your RiRi is so special and the chap is merely “a two bit dumb ass ney-ney little boy pop idol ?’

    Talk about bias?

  35. me,
How is it that you can see GP bias but not yours? De good book speaks something about seeing de mote in another’s eye. (not too verse on de scriptures)
How you know dat she din’ giv Chris what ever his name is, a good ‘bajan’ kick in he ‘balls’. Dat is PAINFULLLL.

  36. Bonny Peppa
Just tell any of your sons, before hitting a woman in so-called “self-defence” ask her first if she’s The Scout’s daughter.

  37. Georgie Porgie

    @ Bonny Peppa
Such an injury, though extremely painful, would not leave any marks, like a little haematoma on the forehead, or a few visible contusions on a pale face.

  38. G P
It seems like some woman put some serious licks in you, that’s why you are so bias. I was once in a situation with a niece of mine, where I arrived at her school to collect her. I saw a group of children gathered and realised that my niece was in some altercation with a young man, both 5th formers. Even though, he saw me coming, he grapped her by her uniform collar, I rushed to the scene, I think I lost it but I grabbed that youngster and lifted him off the ground and warned him NEVER try that again. His friends were laughing, so he had to retaliate, when I put him down, he pull a knife on me, I kicked that knife out of his hand so hard and put to cuffs in his backside that he fell. The security guard saw what happened and held the youngster. I was told his Dad comes for him, so I waited until he came and we spoke. His father told him to apologise to me and then cut his backside in front of those still at school. I too apologised to him and his Dad for losing it even though his father said if the situation was revesred he might have done worse than me. You can do me anything and I would decide if it worth retaliating but when you interfere with my family, especially the females, I’m not sure what the outcome will be but it wouldn’t be nice

  39. Georgie Porgie

    @ Scout
Your first statement is as irrational and uncontrolled as the behavior you exhibited on those school grounds. Would it have been worth it, if you had killed that young boy?

I dont think I am being biased at all; such bringing some balance and soberness to the discussion.

If Rihanna was rude to the young man or struck him first or if she is a control freak as reported, his anger is ceretainly not justified.

By the same token, he has every right to go seek another woman who might be more respectful…….in the same way that folk on the blogs are saying that she should leave him. I believe that if a woman will drive a man to such a level of anger that he ought to depart from the woman.

  40. LOL I am admitting my bias up front. I am a huge fan of Rihanna. But seriously us men need to recognise that we are stronger physically and some of us need to grow stronger mentally also.

Like I said before I agree that some women are abusive but my experience here in Barbados is that far more men have been brutalisng women than the other way around! AND more importantly bajan men beating women has been accepted as par for the course; as something that is whispered and laughed about. ” She deserved getting she mout lik in …” etc

The exception does not the rule make!

  41. GP “I believe that if a woman will drive a man to such a level of anger that he ought to depart from the woman.”

I cosign on this… Walk away but dont hit!

  42. G P
I thought you were a decent man. now I must look at you in a different way. You’re coming over as a jealous woman hater. Pull yourself together. This is not just about Rihanna, this is about WOMEN including your mother, sister/s and ALL other women. Let us use what happen to Rihanna as a starting point to put an end to ALL female abuse. The percentage of woman to man abuse is soooo small that if we stop the man to woman abuse, they would both respect each other. In my sixty odd years on this earth, the thought has never crossed my mind and if it does now I should be taken to the mental hostipal for treatment.

  43. Devils Advocate

    @ Georgie Porgie
I believe that if a woman will drive a man to such a level of anger that he ought to depart from the woman.

What does the woman ‘drive the man’ in, her car? He drives himself to that point . We are all responsible for our own anger

“By the same token, he has every right to go seek another woman who might be more respectful…”
Respectful of what? Do women owe men respect? Last time I checked, Respect must be earned.
If a man is in a relationship with a woman she usually becomes ‘a control freak’ if his actions make her insecure. Men speak of insecurity in women as if it is a disease with no cure. The cure for insecurity in women is to be respectful to the woman you are with. Women are not interchangeable objects. There has been a case in the law courts recently where a woman’s infidelity was entered as evidence of ‘provocation’ in a manslaughter case. What about women who are ‘provoked’ daily by the disrespect of their partners, are they justified to react with violence?
Physical abuse is a cycle, the victim usually becomes the abuser when the situation allows. Men do not report physical violence because their peers, other men, underestimate the damage a woman can do and ridicule the victim. (the police are the chief offenders). The size of a woman does not determine the damage she can inflict on a man, especially if the woman has received some degree of martial arts or other combat training. All physical violence is wrong, we are all responsible for managing our own anger.

  44. Scout,
Suppose that young man’s father was as irrational as you? You see how easily we as adults get ‘hauled’ into these children little squabbles? I don’t think that I would’ve handled it like his papa did. I would put some licks on you first. And as for apologizing, did she apologise too? I doubt. I don’t know we always assume that the female is right when something like this happens. Women could be real vicious too. I myself included.
Whether she is your daughter that my son is dating or not, my rule is the same; ‘hit and ye shall be hitten back, thrice as hard’.
    Enuff said on dis matter.

  45. Devils Advocate,
I luv um. Ya real facetious. I laffin’ real bad.
‘What does the woman drive the man in, her car?’ I luv um.

  46. Georgie Porgie

    @ Scout
You make me laugh. I am no longer a decent man in your estimation because I seek to bring a balance to what I saw as a one sided debate against a hot headed immature 19 year old boy hitting his girlfriend? So be it. Your opinion will not rob be of my eternal salvation. Nor can you give me a job in this world.

On the other hand, you seem to think that you, as a supposedly mature adult, were a hero of some kind, when you manhandled an equally hot headed immature male for daring to hold your niece by her school uniform? Here you were, a big man unfairing a little boy! Suppose his father had got you charged for assault and battery? Maybe you should have been taken to the mental hospital for treatment then. What if you had killed the lad or caused him serious bodily harm in your righteous rage and indignation?

If you read my posts, which were written in good and clear English, and are as logically sound as the clarion call of a bell, you will see that whereas I am not a worshipper of your RiRi, that I do respect woman hood, and advocate that men ought to walk away from disputes and relationships that drive them to anger to the degree that they think they must resort to violence as a response.

No where have I said anything to imply that I am a woman hater, or jealous. But at the same time, I can not see how the emotional ranting and raving that I have read on the blogs about this incident will put an end to ALL female abuse. Nor will your ad hominem attacks change my opinion.

I don’t care how relatively small the percentage of woman to man abuse is. It is also wrong! And to say that if we stop man to woman abuse that this will result in greater respect between the sexes is of course a non sequitur. Surely the abuse results because of a lack of understanding or a lack of respect between the persons involved.

Men should not beat up women; neither should women beat up men. Men who can not tolerate ill treatment meted out to them by women, should walk away.

  47. I aint hitting na body… and ef in sumbody hit me I dun just so….if we does have fights dat dat bad den we not sposed to be togedda . Full stop

  48. Georgie Porgie

    Devils Advocate

    You asked
What does the woman ‘drive the man’ in, her car? He drives himself to that point . We are all responsible for our own anger.

OK As you well know some women PROVOKE men to anger; and vice versa.

    You asked
“By the same token, he has every right to go seek another woman who might be more respectful…” Respectful of what? Do women owe men respect? Last time I checked, Respect must be earned.

I think we ought to respect each other. OK? I also believe that if the woman in a relationship thinks that she is not getting the respect that she thinks she has earned or deserves that she ALSO has every right to go seek another man who might be more respectful

    You wrote
If a man is in a relationship with a woman she usually becomes ‘a control freak’ if his actions make her insecure. Men speak of insecurity in women as if it is a disease with no cure. The cure for insecurity in women is to be respectful to the woman you are with.

I hope that you can see or know that there are both male and female control freaks, and that it need not be due to insecurity. Some folk just seem to think that they must be in control!

    You wrote

Women are not interchangeable objects. There has been a case in the law courts recently where a woman’s infidelity was entered as evidence of ‘provocation’ in a manslaughter case

Nor are men interchangeable objects. I have also read of cases involving men’s infidelity being the ‘provocation’ for their manslaughter/murder by their wives. One is as common as the other…….even if not in Bim.

Neither men or women who are ‘provoked’ daily by the disrespect of their partners, are justified to react with violence.

When it comes to my children I don’t take nonsense. Maybe I should have told you, the reason he gragged her. He was her boyfreind but they broke up and she was talking to another youngster and he walked up broke up the conversation and gragged her. I NEVER did that to my daughter and NO MAN will do that to her NOW. DO whatever you want to do with me afterwards but just don’t interfere with my family. I don’t care who it is.

  50. Georgie Porgie

    Scout

Seriously man, there is no excuse for the behavior you described. The little giddy headed youngster only grabbed the girl, but you a responsible adult man handled the lad. No worse than a man beating a woman.

Could this story about the RiRi fight be true? Again I am not saying that the lad should have put some blows in RiRi. I am wondering what the men that talking would have done in the same circumstance when they were 19.

Here goes This is copied from BFP

    • February 10, 2009. A friend of Chris Brown reached out to MediaTakeOut.com, offering us this explanation of what happened on Saturday night:
[Rihanna is] outrageously jealous and insecure. So [Chris] would get into arguments and fights with her. He never hit her once but she’d [allegedly] smack him, bite him and scratch him and once he even got hit in the balls kinda’ hard. So [she] got into the habit of hitting him because to her it was fine since he never hit her back.
[On Saturday night, Chris] finally told her to shut the f*ck up and it’s over. So she socked the shit out of him while he was driving and kept on hitting him until he crashed into a parked car.
[Chris] then got out of the car and tried to pull her out and got hit in the face some more numerous times. Scratched up and everything.
Simply because he was done with all of the drama. Anyway when she smacked him this last time he smacked her back. So he [left Rihanna there alone].
Hurt from banging her face on the windshield/dashboard from the car accident [somebody] then called the cops and [Rihanna] told them that [Chris] whipped her ass.
[Later the next day, Chris] wanted to go get his things from her apt to go to a hotel and saw a million cop cars there.
So he left and when he sent us to retrieve his stuff, this girl didn’t want to let us get his 6 bags of stuff. She said tell him to come get it himself … Tell him to answer his phone and that I’m sorry we can work this out. To which I said, hell no my friend isn’t coming anywhere near here. It’s too late for all of that. He just wants his luggage and you guys need never to see each other anymore….
Sh*t happens was definitely in effect and it’s crazy how everyone can jump on a woman’s side and not know what happened. Hind sight is 20/20 and I told [him that] he should’ve gotten out of the car and called the cops on her a*s when it was just him with scratches and shit.
This seems like a very interesting story. Of course we have absolutely no way to know whether it’s true or just damage control.
It does get a little tricky however. You’ll recall that initially both Rihanna and Chris’ people were claiming that Rihanna was injured in a “traffic accident.” Also, according to TMZ, their Lamborghini was towed from the scene of the alleged assault in Hancock Park to a nearby police impound lot. Could the car have been damaged???
    Developing….

  51. B P
I don’t think you get it. I’ve walked away from many things done to me that most men would have retaliated to, but I walked away. That was me walking away from something someone did me but if you do my children something, I would damage you seriously. One of my sons and his girlfriend had an argument at a picnic, i saw him come home early and went to his room. Later he told me what happened and she slapped him in front of her friends. He walked away, got into his car drove home. For about four months straight, she and her friends were calling him asking him to reunite with the girl but he refused. Today, they are friends but not lovers anymore, she said he taught her a lesson that she would never forget. She’s now married and my son and her husband are best friends just because of what action he took. That night I took him out for a celebration for his level of maturity.

  52. ha ha ha ha some bajan women love to fuss and fight. Either this person who spoke to mediatakeout.com is a bajan or they have come to know what we Bajan men know about SOME of our mothers, sisters, daughters, wives and outside women. ha ha ha ha lol! But why is this news again?

  53. It is unfortunate what Rihanna suffered in the allegedly assault on her.I will not pick sides in this matter or pass judgment on the 2 individuals involved.

I do not think that excuses should be made for any of the 2 individuals.Chris Brown & Rihanna are adults and not little children anymore. They are international stars and should know how to handle delicate personal problems in a practical & mature way.I am sure that both of them recognize any negative publicity of them could spell disaster for their careers. Therefore both of them should have taken into consideration the consequences that will come they way as a result of their actions.

This is a sad time for us Barbadians who are so proud of Rihanna a Barbadian who had done us so proud.
I will admit I am not a big fan of Rihanna.I have real concerns for the image she projects as an entertainer and I have problems with her style of dress.Nevertheless,I am proud of her achievements in reaching the top in the music industry.

I hope this incident will not have a devastating effect on her career and I hope she will be able to rebound from this sorry situation and will continue to progress as an international star.

Rihanna stay strong, stay focus, stay sweet and learn from this sad episode in your life.

All of us as human beings go through a rough period at some period of time in our life.During that period we need love, understanding & compassion not negativity.

This is a period of time that Rihanna needs our love & support.Barbadians please support Rihanna 1 of us in her time of need.

  54. chuspes!

  55. Watch out for the spin doctoring phase next – pore teenager abused by stepfather – can’t help himself, we must feel sorry for him and pity him and wipe his nose and powder his butt.

  56. Remember when Rihanna started her career there was the American pro-Beyonce element that attacked and shunned her. Now at this unfortunate time for the youngster when she would probably welcome support from her own we use statements published by Media Take Out which is an established celebrity gossip rag. GP you can do better:-)

Why not publish the latest rumour in the American blogosphere that she gave the boy an std? Why is it that Barbadians would not want to give this young Barbadian entertainer our support?

    Why?

  57. Dear David:

You wrote “A tribute to the handlers of both stars is the fact that information about the reported incident in California last night has been kept under tight secrecy.”

I am disappointed in you David, and you are usually a reasonable man.

The men who beat women (and it is usually men who beat women) are banking on our secrecy.

They are hoping that the women:

“Will Cry Softly So The Neighbours Won’t Hear”

But Rihanna was RIGHT to report the matter to the police.

She was RIGHT not to be silent.

The police are RIGHT to properly investigate the matter and to press whatever charges are necessary.

The young man needs to be taught how to control his anger.

    And why the jealosy?

How many of us can honestly say that we are still with the same man or woman we had at 18, or 19.

    I CERTAINLY CAN”T.

That is the nature of young love. Young people change their minds for good reasons and for bad and for no reason. And it is their right to do so. And NO, NO, NO. A young woman does NOT deserve to be beaten if she has changed her mind about anything or ANYBODY.

  58. And she has no reason to be ashamed.

I’ve taught my children NEVER to be ashamed unless they have done something wrong.

    Shame is for wrongdoers.

  59. I never supported Rihanna, and I don’t see the need to do so now. I stated then and you can go to BarbadosForum.com and see, that the culture she is getting into is nothing for Barbadians to celebrate, that the entertainment sector is fickle, and as a country we should find a way to not link our country’s image to an entertainment star. I still hold that position, and while I do not hold this incident to be vindication of my position then, I believe we are not too far away from that time when I can say that to be the case. She is a singer that’s all and not a good one at that.

BTW four nights a week I get my sweat on too a number of songs including

    Disturbia
    Breaking dishes
    Don’t stop the music

ha ha ha ha ha ha I find it laughable under any circumstances that a multimillionaire could need me “support” and I foolishly give it. Not in these times and whether um is a wall-street fat cat or a highly over-rated entertainer, no way bosey.

  60. ok ok ya it ant rite to hit a grul but ya it does happen. bt how does eneybody no that she didnt start it and mayb she did something to him no one nows realy may be she could be sayin a diffrent story. and i dont understand the biting he ant no DOG! i dont know but he looks like the kinda person that wouldnt do that cuz i no wat hes gon thow wene he was smaller. and i Know they never should have ben together.am a big fan of chris and no mattere wat am gon have his back.

  61. @J

Our comment was in the context of seeing pictures splashed all over the tabloids etc of the two young people.

    @Adrian

When we read/hear about what happened to Rihanna the instinctive paternal feelings of a father rises to the fore. What if it was the daughter we love so much?

  62. Georgie Porgie

I am sorry, but I did not know that the lass needed our support. I thought that she was well off!

So I am supposed to know (or even care) that Media Take Out is an established celebrity gossip rag?

Could not the account published on this rag be possibly as truthful as anything put out on BU or BFP? Is anything published on a any rag ever true?

Actually the account of the cause of the injuries received by our “untouchable” is best accounted for on this rag, than the other offerings I have seen elsewhere. It is more likely to get haematomas from a lash on a dash board in a car accident than from a blow with a hand, for example.

It seems that two youngters had a squabble, and because they are pop idols, a big fuss is being made about nothing.

Re When we read/hear about what happened to Rihanna the instinctive paternal feelings of a father rises to the fore. What if it was the daughter we love so much?

What if it were the son we love so much? How should the instinctive paternal feelings of a father rises to the fore?

If these two little spoilt brats were not well known, it would be business as usual today.

  63. I am indeed sorry about this, as Rhianna has done so well and made all of us Barbadian-Guyanese so proud of her accomplishments. I don’t think she should leave the USA, she should stay, but keep away from Chris. I am disappointed with Chris Brown, but Rhianna will prevail, just look at Ike and Tina Tuner. Tina went on to greater things after years of abuse at the hands of Ike, in fact Ike is six feet under, Tina still kicking in Hollywood. So Rhianna hold on, hold your head up high and trust in Jesus and I will pray for you girl. Love you.

  64. David the FACTS are that Rihanna is not related to me. At any rate i felt more empathy and praternal feelings for the black boy that got a deliberate beat down by a TWO WHITE BAJANS up in Highgate gardens. Incidently this is a story that did not get uh umph of the attention your Rhi Rhi is getting and that i believe don’t deserved.

Anyway i am off to the gym to Get-my-sweat-on with the help of Rihanna’s three songs and i will do so without any attention or concern to her current situation. ha ha ha ha lol!

  65. Georgie Porgie

    Well said AH!

    BAFBFP, Georgie Porgie,
My sentiments, the same, my darlinks.

    Much ado about nuttan.

    Stupseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
    …………………………………………………………..
We have rabid dogs among us. When I read the garbage from Bonny Peppa, Georgie Porgy, BFP, Bajan gal etc I want to puke. When I read these insensitve people I hear the whips of the slave master as we slaved for free in the searing hot sun. The voices of BP, Georgie etc take me back to the days of bondage.

This brilliant young Bajan girl being battered by a rephrehensible brute is a routine slave girl whipping for the likes of Bonny Peppa, Porgie and BFP. They dont care about folk who dont look like them.

Rihanna my friend be strong many of us care for you deeply.

  67. Adrian Hinds,
I endorse everything you said but what is chuspes? U mean stupse? I stupsing too.
    Scout,
You seem to think that only you have this undying love for your offspring. All parents, I think, have this undying, unconditional love for their offspring, so when they hurt , we hurt. That is why if I were that lil boy’s mama, you and I would roll in de mud. You don’t touch my ‘gems’ and get off either. You love yours and I love mine. Understand?

  68. My 2 cents,

    You are a c^#t.
    Rest In Peace.

  69. reluctant nonbeliever

Negroman, I’ve never agreed with anything you’ve posted before, but this time yours is by far the most balanced and measured contribution to this discussion.

Adrian Hinds – what kind of weirdo are you?

  70. Dear Georgie Porgie you wrote “Let him be drawn and quartered, tarred and feathered. Carried to the cleaners, and dumped! Let him name be taken out of the book of life , for life. Let him go to jail and the key be thrown away. Let him go to hell”

    I 2nd that.

  71. Dear Georgie Porgie:

Youwrote “We once had a prominent leader that used to beat his wife too, But that was hushed up, until at his funeral he was said to be a “fighter” at his eulogy — rather than a wife beater.”

    Who da?

Come on tell us since he is dead and can’t sue for libel as “prominent leaders” are so fond of doing.

  72. People are saying that Rihanna hit Chris Brown first. If so where are his injuries? His lawyer has reported no injuries, neither has any doctor or the police.

If he has been injured how come his lawyer has not advised him to document hiss injuries and how come he has not reported to the police that he has been injured?

  73. J:

Surely you know who used to beat his wife? He was a leader of the BLP, mother white, father black. lol.

  74. @GP

We could take umbrage to your remark since reputation is acquired based on track record feedback etc i.e.they are some medical journals you would probably read before others…lol.

The latest on this matter for those interested is that the DA has asked the police to do some more digging with a view to pursuing criminal charges of Chris Brown,

  75. Was it Sir Grantley that beat his wife? Please let us know, as some of us are originally from over the pond in Mudland

  76. I think that we all need to step back and take a deep breath on this matter. Info is flying around fast and furious and usually, in these types of reporting, it is for the most part inaccurate. I think when the dust settles and the case goes to court, many will be surprised as to what really went down. So for now, let’s not be quick to pass judgement in the matter. Leave that to the courts.

  77. Anonymous,
It was alleged that Tom was a wife-beater not his papa. He was a mistress-beater as well.

    Catwoman,
    Well said.

  78. Georgie Porgie and Adrain Hinds:

Wha’ happen to wunnuh, that ya’ all so anti-woman.

Ya’ all spend too much time on ya careers and working 2 jobs and get some horns or wuh?

  79. We need to remind Rihanna that she is a Caw’mere girl and therefore highly intelligent with a lotta options. She is young enough to continue her education and be teacher, doctor, engineer, proferror, lawyer, prime minister, anything.

I am one of those people who always felt that she should have continued her formal educaton even while pursuing her career. It is possible to be a celebrity AND earn a university degree or two, or more.

Instead of partying with ignorant people, she should spend her non-performance, non-recording time in the clasaroom. A nice rigorous place like Yale, as Michelle Obama did.

She doesn’t need to date a thug-in- training. She can do better.

At this point in her life she doesn’t need to date ANYBODY at all.

But if she feels that she wants to date Barbaos is full of wonderful young men.

Somebody please introduce her to some nice Bajan man who knows how to treat a woman nice.

  80. J // February 11, 2009 at 7:34 am

We need to remind Rihanna that she is a Caw’mere girl and therefore highly intelligent with a lotta options.

A lot of prickles/paros went to Caw’mere too.

I must say that there are alot of misogyny on this blog… Whuh de gurl do wunna?

    Why wunna hate women so…?

Why is the burden of proof being put so much on the victim here?

  82. Reading the comments above and in the other blog, I think that part of the problem stems form the fact that we in Barbados consider ourselves to be “people of the world”, because we have CNN and travel to Miami or New York once in a while. Barbados is, in fact a very parochial society, and it is hard to even try to understand the pressures that have been put on Rihanna since she was plucked from being a schoolgirl in this little island to being an international superstar in a matter of 2 years. Under the circumstances it is not surprising that she would make wrong choices once in a while. We should also not forget her “handlers”, who would see a lot of benefit and publicity coming from the relationship with another young superstar. Right now, I feel that Rihanna will be feeling lost and alone, and she needs someone she can trust to provide support and mentorship, hopefully her mother. Without that, she could well feel that she has no option than to return to the only relationship she has known for the past year, and that could be really harmful to her and her career. Regardless of how the blame goes around, we must remember that she is still really just a girl from Barbados who needs help and support.

  83. Bonny Peppa
It is immaterial to me who else love their family, the point is I am Protector- in- Chief of my family. I will rollup in mud, snow, water or even “glass-bottle” with anyone who try to take advance or abuse or molest any of my family. As I have stated before, do it to me and most likely, I would walk away, do it to my family and may the Lord have mercy on your soul.

  84. I am getting to emotional about this and I might devulge to much, so to anyone who don’t like my method, too bad but you now know where I stand. However, to protect myself and others from any unwarranted problems, I will stop my blogs on this particular posting. Enjoy and have a nice day. B.P you’re still my friend and I hope we would NEVER have to roll up in mud unless it is a joyous encounter.

  85. Oh shoot, it was Tom, I wanted to say Tom, but he looked so pious to me, never in wildest dreams would I have guessed it, and to think young me was so madly in love with him. Bonny thanks

  86. Pelt, Barbados is very sophisticated when compared with other societies, and I think it is absolutly amazing that young Rihanna is able to handle her so self so well, especially under such circumstances. I bow to Rihanna, for I know I could not do what she does, but there she is taking the world by storm with her musical talent and beautiful looks, BTW the concert in Malaysia was sold out. Rihanna will prevail.

  87. Regardless of how the blame goes around, we must remember that she is still really just a girl from Barbados who needs help and support.
    ——————————————————-
Well said. As Barbadians we have to let Rihanna know she will never walk alone.

  88. Devils Advocate

I have a question about the story reprinted from BFP. If Chris Brown was retaliating to an attack by jealous , possessive RiRi then why are there no pictures splashed around the place of his injuries? I understand that most of those who support Chris Browne refer to riri as ‘Island trash’ so it would be to their advantage to provide evidence of this. None of you know the truth, all of this is supposition on your parts. What was the motive behind reprinting the story?
    @Georgie Porgie
I notice that you did not seem to see the last part of my post. You seem to be more interested in editing my comments than understanding my points.
Obviously I am speaking from my own experience and that does not mean I do not see the other side. Men in this country seem to believe that insecurity is just a trait some women have and use it as an excuse to end relationships. In most normal people insecurity or insecure feelings usually result from the actions of their partner. Notice that I put ‘control freak’ in quotes since this is a subjective term. I have found that in general women make more adjustments when it comes to relationships and tend to be more compromising in terms of finding solutions when things go wrong while the men think that all they have to do is look for another woman. There are exceptions to every rule our society has regarding male and female behavior but some of us are too blind to see.

Wha’ happen to wunnuh, that ya’ all so anti-woman.
Ya’ all spend too much time on ya careers and working 2 jobs and get some horns or wuh?
    ————————
First of all I do not believe that I am anti-woman, so if you are interested in bringing me on board and to take your comment and you seriously, you will have to present the evidence that led you conclude that I am anti-woman.
Horning as I understand it, involves a third party having sexual relations with your partner. That means you are not party to the activity. How does this affect you????

  90. They calling her island trash, but I know one thing for sure is that the American people both black and white hate it when they hear a man has hurt a female and children. I have heard that males in jail for crimes against women and children are dealt with severely by the other inmates. Chris is already paying for his crime against our Rihanna as he is loosing endorsements from the Milk Board and Wigley’s Chewing Gum Company, plus they have banned Chris from some games, but on the flip side Rihanna’s endorsements are steadfast. Rihanna if you reading, you need to stay right in the US, greater things in store for you darling. Love you, and if I was close by I would come and cook you all your favourite Guyanese foods. God Bless and I love you and you keep on keeping on.

  91. Partly bajan girl

    A very interesting debate!

I try to see it even deeper, and try to figure out why bajans react so much on the beating of national symbol and mascot Rhianna by her american boyfriend Brown.
Maybe is it our dark legacy, with slavery and violence that makes us scream up?
We never wanna see anyone representing the Rock being beaten, bent down and taken their pride away,do we?
    Its just too hard,especially for men in our little country because it mirrors so strongly a shadow side of black culture;
    violence.
Of course its violence everywhere, and both by women and men,but I think this mirrors and highlights Barbados and black society in particular..?
We identify this problem of society in people we admire and look up to. People with success, people our children wanna be like.
We learn that even if you get success and are beautiful and rich, still violence can hit you hard and brutal.
And we maybe get reluctant to look closer in the closet,on our own society, how we treat women(and men).
How we deal with anger, how we communicate when being bent or refused?
Our “pop-culture” were women in rap-songs often are called bitch, tramp and stuff…
    Who do we wanna be?
What do we wanna show to the world?
How do we communicate, black women and men?
    Thats my main concern here.

All you does do is throw out a lot words that you cannot substantiate how you have applied it. You are no authority on anything. Prove that your application of “misogyny” fits anyone in particular on this blog! can you? Chupse!!!! How about i calling you a “dammed emotional windbag’?… and I’ll attempt to prove my application if you do the same with misogyny ha ha ha ha ha lol!

Let me state it again for all those who have demonstrated a remarkable willingness to think only with their emotions. Rhianna’s so called success is extricably linked to a culture that i abhor, therefore i cannot find any utilty in celebrating the “entertainer” in her. With regards to the latest news surrounding her. I do not need to reflect on her particular issue to know that there is still work to be done in reducing incidents of domestic violence. I am not even sure that i want to call her situation such. At any rate she has the resources and sufficient people who are dependent on her for a paycheck to handle this for her. I will spend my time reflecting on and doing what i can for those who may have suffered abuse and don’t have the resources to combat it.

  93. Georgie Porgie

    @ David
    Re
We could take umbrage to your remark since reputation is acquired based on track record feedback etc i.e.they are some medical journals you would probably read before others…lol.
LOL Don’t take umbrage as there was no offence meant. Just trying to be rational. I know and care nothing about the rag in question.

    @J
GP is definitely NOT antiwoman. But I sincerely believe that if a man should not hit a woman, that a woman should not hit a man. That seems very fair to me.

However, I notice that on this thread, once you don’t jump on the bandwagon, and say “Poor RiRi. Poor your little pop singing idol, that you must be subjected to vilification and ad hominem attacks.”

Having in my time treated so many persons who were victims of domestic abuse, and having even been present at several murder scenes as a result of such occurrences, the issue at hand is to me merely a tempest in a teapot. Two young giddy head immature persons had an altercation, and some licks were shared. This is a common occurrence, but because your little pop singing idol is involved, I am supposed to weep and wail and get all emotional about it? I don’t think so.

    @ Devils Advocate

I saw the last part of your post, and agreed with it, and so saw no need to comment thereon. And yes I understood your submission. I only sought to present the other side, which has been woefully lacking in this discussion.

David suggested, or hoped, that the thread would foster a discussion on domestic abuse, but the thread has been consumed with emotional rants. As Adrian Hinds has correctly stated, there was not as great a commotion when the white lawyer beat up a poor black boy in Highgate Gardens. After all, that poor black boy was not your little pop singing idol.

Adrian Hinds’ comment above is worthy of serious assimilation. We do not need to reflect this particular issue to know that there is still work to be done in reducing incidents of domestic violence.

He has also correctly pointed out that………
“At any rate she has the resources and sufficient people who are dependent on her for a paycheck to handle this for her. I will spend my time reflecting on and doing what I can for those who may have suffered abuse and don’t have the resources to combat it.”

  94. Partly bajan girl

    I just have to make one more statement;
The pop-industry of black America disappoint me.
Where I live right now, there`s one music channel with rap and funk -videos going, all day.
In 80% of them, its components of gang crime, violence, murder, jalousy, quarrelling, fighting, mad car driving, cool guys with grand cars that doesnt fit realistically to their language and mind set.
And surrounded by lots of willing, beautiful, black women who should know better.
Theese are not the guys we wanna marry!

I really miss music videos about our history, our african mythology, our struggle and our past.
Our good sence of rythm and music, our pride and natural beauty.
Uur colorful art and skills, the poetry of the people.
    Our dreams!
I do not wanna see all this stereotyped “shit”, I wanna see the depts of our people!
I wanna see individals with the courage to be themselves.
I see Rhianna as a proud, beautiful, but young representant of our society.
    Take care and be strong!
And in the same gasp I wanna salute american Whitney Houston and her strong comeback on her own feet as the excellent singer she really is!

  95. What does it mean when i use google, and it auto fills with possible results of what I am looking for, and to the far right of each listing it shows a number as results? Is this the number google searches for a particular website?

I just did a search for

    Barbados underground — 1,300,000 results

Barbados free press — 524,000 results

    Barbadosfrepress — 14,600 results

    What does this mean? anything?

  96. Partly Bajan, Honey Black America has got all those things you mentioned above in our music and pop culture, in fact we are in touch with who we are, more so than other African people in the diaspora, which other country with black people has given the world so many genres of music, so many inovations in fashions and food, and art and culture, and now our President Barack Obama and our beautiful first lady Michelle and the first daughters Malia and Sacha. Pan originated in Barbados, and caught on in T& T and to some extent in Guyana, and a few other places, but our black American culture is imitated and copied around the world, be it Beijing or Banjul, Bridgetown or Georgetown, Paris or Paramaribo.

  97. I feel sorry for both of them. Let the truth come out and lets pray that they have continued success. None of us were there when the fight occured; everything now is gossip. I wish Rihanna a speedy recovery. Let the legal process play out.

  100. Bad Man saying nothing

    @Anonymous

What black american culture ignorance you spouting? Because some misguided idiots from around the world and wannabe wiggers chose to wear their pants low and say bitch and ho when talking to women is a reason to be proud?
that inner city gansta culture shit is not even typical of Black American culture.
Tell me seriously “How many genres of music? What inovations in fashions, food, art and culture? Is going to Harvard in the case of President Barack Obama and Yale in the case of first lady Michelle typical of Black American Culture? go and find some shite to do yuh. You talking isms. And i am black before anybody thinks I am being racist .

  101. Our girl has never really, truly looked happy in any of the recent pics which I’ve seen of her, inspite of Chris Brown! Our girl needs to realise the sad fact that you can’t force somebody to love you and if he does n’t truly, to end the relationship or it could transpire in the way that hers has done! And, that a shit is still a shit, no matter how much bling he’s wearing and to keep well away!

  102. Black American culture???????

    Explain please!!

  103. Scout,
my darling we would never part company over a lil bassa-bassa like dis. We would agree to disagree but ma still luffs you. Doan get foolish. You are a strong family-man and I love that about you. I am a very strong family-woman too and you got to luff me fa dat too. I would disfigure, main or disable a fella fa my family too. (smooch)

    Devil’s Advocate,
Sometimes it is the actions of your partner that causes him/her to feel insecure too. He/she knows that he is ‘laying’ as many of his workmates and automatically he thinks that your workmates are ‘laying’ you too. I will give you a lil joke to reiterate my comment. A fella told me that he went out with a ‘side-ting’ one night and he told her that when she gets home and de hubby wants to ‘mek a lil sport’ at bedtime to tell him that she has a headache. Now when he got home and went to ‘mek a lil sport’ wid his wife, she looked at him and said, “Man, I got a headache’. You could imagine the thoughts that went through his head?

  104. I can’t explain black America, because it is in the spirit. I was raised in a all black area of where I come from, and I use to think WOW we are here, but we are so close to Africa, and we were, but when I landed in America, and I tuned in the radio, now there were many, many many radio stations, and I would listen to a little bit and then go on to the next station, and finaally I came upon the black radio station, now in that time it was the black radio station, and I listened and I said this is my radio station, they were playing Aretha, the Temps, Supremes, Martha Reeves, Junior Walker, and so on and even on the coldest of days I could feel that black American culture coming through that radio station, the vitality, the excitment. I thought I was in heaven, after years of hearing, Lord Canary and Lord Kitchner and Might Sparrow, I just thought WOW listen to this new music. This is just an example, but black American is mixed in with the white culture, I have seen many examples. Anyway, I think the greatest people on earth are Black Americans.

  105. Tech and Bad Man, You have to experience Black American culture, as I can’t explain it. It is In the spirit, and I am borrowing In the spirit from Susan Taylor the former editor of essence magazine.

  106. Adrian Hinds,

  114. Rihanna Barbados Still Loves You

Rags to riches, a great fantasy
Island girl is now a big Celebrity
Her stardom extends to many shores
And her skills have opened many doors
Never did we have such a superstar
No one before her or since, has gotten as far
And though we usher her to entertainment slaughter
Bajans want even greater successes for their first daughter
Awards a plenty and contracts to match
Riveting performances and greatness to attach
“Barbados I love you” she said receiving her Grammy
And Barbados loves you too Robyn Rihanna Fenty
Def Jam has done great work promoting our girl
Our thanks to them for polishing our pearl
She was held in our grips until she was ready
Sent off on her own to pursue her celebrity
This is her dream realized and we all share in it
It is an incredible journey that requires a brave habit
Life in the spotlight requires unmatchable finesse
Learning to walk a tight rope and showing no stress
Limelight is like climbing a greased pole
Over a bed of burning coal
Violence is but one of the dangers she’ll meet
Exposure to drugs, money and relationships that cheat
So we Bajans have been armed to do our part
You Rihanna will always hold a place in our heart
Our thoughts are with you and we trust what you do
Use your judgment cause Rihanna Barbados Still Loves You!

An Acrostic Poem fron The Bajan Poetry Society

  115. Rihanna,

This is my favourte spirital and it is beautifully sung the late Rev. James Cleveland and the Southern California Community Chior. This song apples to you also Rihanna. “I don’t feel no ways tired, I come this far from where I started from, nobody told me that the road would be easy, I don’t beleive he brought me this far and would just leave me.

You see Rihanna, I like your Mum left Guyana for places where people did not like me, I have had lots of pitfalls, but Jesus never left me. So you hold on, pray, I praying, all of Barbados praying and you fans in Guyana praying, we all praying, so there is nothing to worry about, plus we praying for Chris, I use to say to myself he looks like your brother and as people say, when you look like brother and sister is a match made in heaven, so we thinking of you and praying for you.

  116. Bajan Poetry: nice poem, I Love It.

This is a very sad situation, however you look at it, there is nothing entertaining about domestic violence.

There are always too many obnoxious rumors flying around by lawless people and this girl should be allowed to live a private life. I think Barbadians are too jealous minded, most people I hear talking seems to think it is funny; but it would not be, if it was one of their family members.

Rihanna, look to God for strength in this difficult time. I hope and pray that you received all the emotional support you need & May God Bless You.

  117. i’m kinda glad this happened cause i didn’t want her to go to malaysia. because of the death threats…..i think someone or many people there meant to kill her as an example.yet i don’t like what cb did.

U call dah poetry?!! Wah I could do betta in my sleep!!

  120. How disappointing ALSO, of RIHANNA, if true!!

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/usa/article2228748.ece

  121. Partly bajan girl

Of course i know that american black culture is diverce and rich!
The point is that other places,f.ex. in Europe, the most visible feature is the present pop-culture with them gangsta`hiphop guys and from here it seems very stereotype for someone who is NOT of black descent.

Something else i have noticed, is how you all embrace and praise president Obama as a afroamerican president.
But he is mixed of white mother and a african man,and his legacy is indeed a bit different in many ways from that of most black americans?
    Colour is not everything.
He is a true rainbow child of the 60`s and doesn`t really carry all the legacy of anger and struggle that most black americans inhabit.
I do not see him as a representant of most black afro americans, really.
more that of a real cosmopolitan.

  124. If the allegations in The Sun article are correct then I’m not surprised that Brown lost his temper. I would too, if somebody threw away my Lambourghini keys!! However, he should n’t have beaten her as badly as he did for which Rihanna may have her lesbian, feminist-freak friends to thank for fooling her that she can do as she likes because she’s a woman – check the words of the song she was recording!

As much as I love u sweetie, it nuh guh so dear! It’s time to grow-up and stick to what you’re best at doing, singing sensible songs, sweetly!!

  125. Party Barbados Girl, President Obama is a black man, African American man, Bruduh President, and I am not the one that made up the rules in the old days, they are the ones that made up the one drop rule, so in many instances people who are of mixed African decent just decided hey look I am African American. My dear to you colour is not everything, but in my experience here in America colour is everything. Here is story for you, we have an organisation here called the NAACP anyway the founder was a light skin man named Walter White, well one day Walter was knocked down by a car on a busy street in Atlanta, well the ambulance drivers took Walter to the white section of Grady Hospital, a white doctor recognised Walter and he was transfered to the black section of Grady Hospital. Anyway President Obama says he is a black American man and we accept him as such just as PM David Thompson says he is a black Barbadian man, we acceept him as such.

  126. 199, you trippin or something here, because that is a lovely poem to our girl, and if you could do so better, drop one here on us. I am not talking about no rap music, I am talking gospel and it look to me like you need some gospel music to help you get your praise on.

  127. Anonymous, I’ve already written that poem which took me all of about 15 minutes to do and, I can assure you, it’s a masterpiece-improvement on the one above!!

  128. 199, you write none, or else you would have posted it here. Anyway, I am waiting. In the meantime I am praying for both Chris and Rihianna, young love gone bad. Please keep us posted BU on any new details. thanks

  129. Anonymous, I have and it’s called ‘Rihanna Blue’!!

Would u like to read it!!

  130. Georgie Porgie

In an earlier post, some said that Rihanna was brilliant.

I wonder what you would think of this girl who was celebrated in today’s Nation?

Her perfprmance has certainly impressed me. She seems to surpass the lengendary exploits of Darcy Boyce at HC in the 60′s.

Ranisha is an ace in the pack
    Published on: 2/12/09.
SHE HAS NEVER ALLOWED her epilepsy to keep her down.
At aged 13 she took her first Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) paper in religious knowledge.
By the time she reached fourth form at Harrison College, Ranisha Young had obtained passes in information technology, mathematics, English language, and principles of business – all at Grade 1. She had also gained principlesof accounts at Grade 3.
When she entered fifth form to complete sixth form work, she excelled in A Level accounts, law, management of business, mathematics, economics, communications studies and sociology. Not happy with her grade in principlesof business, she sat it again, with a Grade 1 success. She also obtained passes in Spanish, human and social biology, electronic document Preparation and management.
Armed with 17 subjects, Ranisha decided at the age of 15 to apply to the University of the West Indies (UWI) where she is currently studying accounting and law.
Many who see Ranisha would agree that she looks much younger than her 16 years.
One of the highlights of her years at school is that she taught herself sociology and economics, later gaining both subjects at A Level standard.
A former student of Goodings Private School and St Martin’s Primary, Ranisha also loves to study and surf the Internet for information on various subjects.
“Studying is a hobby, and I love to read a lot. I read almost anything,” the young academic says.
Apart from her studies, Ranisha got involved in a number of activities at school. They ranged from track and field (at which she also excelledas a long distance runner), to dancing. Whileshe still finds time to spend with friends and attend parties, the Kirton’s, St Philip resident is focused on her studies.
Ranisha was exempted from most of her first year courses at university because of her success O and A Level subjects. She spends six to seven days each week at the UWI, but prefers to reserve Sundays for the beach with family members
including her three siblings. Her parents are Dawn Young and James Greenidge, both individual restaurant proprietors,
Ranisha is one of the younger students on campus, and when she graduates from the UWI, she will be a mere 18 or 19 years old – the ages at which most persons enter university.
The first of four children, Ranisha hopes to commence studies for her Master’s degree within the next three years.
Her ability to excel is a wonder to her parents and grandparents. That’s because while she is clearly an academic, Ranisha missed many days away from school due to her epileptic seizures.
Inspired however by her dad, a former student of The Lodge School, and her cousin Ianthe Hill, a teacher, together with Troy “Kudos” Weekes, Ranisha believes that she should get as much education as possibleat her tender age.
“I’m just interesting in studying. Teenage life is such a short one. When it is over you have to face the real world of work,” she states.
Ranisha, who resides with her grandparents Sylvan and Beatrice Young is not a lover of television and her family supports her ideals and are extremely proud of her.
“I’m very proud of her. She is honest and stubborn, one who likes to get her own way; but I love the fact that she has her life planned out,” says dad, James.
“It’s best to study and get a career so you won’t have to depend on anyone,” adds Ranisha, “and I believe in putting my studies first.”

  131. GP, what’s this to do with Rihanna being brilliant!! I don’t plan to go and see Ranisha in concert!!

  132. Plus, she still probably, does n’t write as brilliant poems as mine!!

  133. Oh that Bonny Peppa !

  134. some people in barbados believe that if you are not academically inclined , you are nothing !

GP, what’s this to do with Rihanna being brilliant!! I don’t plan to go and see Ranisha in concert!!

I dont plan to go to see Rihanna in concert either.

    @me & crap
I am not surprised by your responses.

  137. Yes, GP, but then, neither does anybody else, plan to go to see Ranisha in concert, either! Do u get the point, GP!! If I mut spell it out for you, Ranisha’s brilliance has nothing to do with Rihanna’s brilliance which, incidentally, is in much greater demand than Ranisha’s and therefore was stupid of you to bring into the argument, in the first place!

I’ve explained it as simply as I can in the hope that you’ll onstan dis time!! :)

  138. GP, if u don’t plan to go to see Rihanna in concert then it just shows how stupid u are because she’s the greatest sensation to occur in Barbados since time immemorial and probably ever will be, not to mention one of the greatest talents which will ever grace the planet, so you’re just displaying your stupidity even greater for all to see!!

  139. Georgie Porgie

Are you saying that I am stupid to not be interested in Rihana or her music? That is an obvious non sequitur.

Are you saying that I dont have a right to chose the music that I prefer to listen to, but you have the right to listen to what you like to listen to?

Are you saying that I am stupid because I dont share your idea about what is sensational? Or your taste in music?

I have a right to celebrate what I consider brillance, here there and anywhere at anytime. And I will.

Furthermore I have never been an idolater. And I dont plan to start now.

Continue with your ad hominem attacks.

  140. Ace,
Stupseeeeeeeeeee, HAPPY VALENTINES MAN,whether you celebrate it or not. Man, leff ma nah, Oh christ man. You like a bile pun a pile. I gun pay you wah I owe you man.
Go and sleep now. I gun check ya lata.

    Georgie Porgie,
Sorry man, I din realize dat JC was de main squeeze. Is aw-rite, all is well.

    199
You’re still quite amazing and amusing. A too luv ya.

    Georgie

  141. GP, if you’re unable to celebrate Rihanna as being the greatest talent EVER to emerge from Bim then, in my opinion, yes, you are stupid and fail to appreciate just what a gift to the world, she is. Fortunately, the millions who do appreciate her are wiser than you!!

Take care Bonny and, I challenge ‘Bajan Poetry’ to produce a poem that’s as scintillating, as mine!!

  142. I have an burning issue. I had a conversation today with someone and I was disgusted at the level of ignorance I heard coming out of her mouth. I seem to recall a situation not so long ago that had bajans in a tizzy on BU where a known female Radio Announcer, Veoma Ali was charged with criminal damages to yet another one of our Bajan Songbirds, Kareen Clarke, and her damages were far more serious than Rihanna’s as a car was driven over her foot leaving here in a state where she can never regain the full use of her foot, and some bajans were very quick to cast aspirations on her character and belittle her notable successes island wide, castigating her and some even believed she deserved it.
Here it is we have yet another domestic dispute involving another one of our songbirds, Rihanna, on an international level, and the overwhelming response in support of Rihanna, on all levels has left Chris Brown (due to his actions), costing him so much of his accolades and sponsorship and fans. People stop playing he music ever which way, even on radio stations overseas, engagements he had booked called to cancel because of his behaviour, even bajans want to kill he and such like, yet Ms. Veoma Ali a Trinidadian by nationality, unlike Chris Brown is still very much fuctioning and performing her daily duties ON THE AIR as though nothing happened. I wonder what MS.Ali has to say on this topic? Does she condemn Chris Brown too? As a matter of fact I am curious to know what Vic Fernandez would have done it was his daughter in messes that Kareen and Rihanna were involved in? Would he still insist on Ms.Ali working and functioning at his radio station?. Are these two matters that different that the whole of Barbados wanted to crucify Kareen for her bad choice in friend or lover? Then what about Rihanna’s choice? I dont hear nobody commenting on her choice in her ‘thug-boyfriend’ as a matter of fact the whold of Bim welcomed him when he came, who beat the crap out of her. The Hypocisy in this country! When will it end?

  143. 199
I honestly think that you are infatuated with her body and her cute face. As far as I’m concerned, she can’t sing neither can she express herself properly. But be that as it may, she was in the right place at the right time hence the opportunity to become ‘rich and famous.
I would prefer to emulate Ranisha as opposed to Rihanna so I backing my heart throb Porgie. “Lightning doan strike in de same place twice’. Rihanna can count her lucky stars.

Saw her pic on the ‘net’ and her face looks worse than it probably is, given her light skin tone. Busted lip also. She will survive and they will live happily ever after, just like Cinderella and Goldilocks.

  144. anonymous, you should check out Miss veoma’s article in the SUNDAY SUN under her alia names: Raphah & Victoria. She might very well right bout it as she does about all her personal life.

    (*available on bajantube.com; imeem.com-and youtube.com)

This is a song against domestic violence
The radio stations dont play this song
The radio stations are therefore failing to stem the tide of domestic violence.

If Chris had come to Barbados and hear this song playing all the time, he would have approached the situation differently

I must be even more stupid than Georgie Porgy. I read all his posts on this thread and did not see the ‘wicked vile thoughts” you speak about.

However, imagine you castigating the good Doctor and yet come back and talk about ‘freedom, human rights and fairplay’. Are these things only for you and those of your choosing? Lambourghini what!!!!!!

199 we know you ain’t got no Lambourghini

  151. Knight of the Long Knives

I am proud of the fact that a Bajan has done so well but to call her a singer is a bit of a stretch. There are two sides to every story so I would wait for the court case to weigh the evidence. So count me out of any vigilantism. Apart from that just like Paris Britney and all the other flakes in the entertainment industry I really dont care what they do in their private lives or what happens to them. I have my own problems.

  152. Bonny, I’m not infatuated with her body – I’m old enough to be her daddy – although I do think she looks very nice and maybe, if I were young again I might be – but I adore her singing! The fact that u don’t indicates either that ur very old or have no serious appreciation of beautiful music. My dear fellow, u just have to consider the millions (like myself) who’ve paid good money and taken their children to see her. We would n’t do that if she was n’t fantastic! I can’t remember the last time I went to a concert before Rihanna’s but I did to see her and, it was n’t because she’s Barbadian, I assure you, but also because she’s absolutely, brilliant!! Why don’t u go to one of her shows and then decide! Then u might understand why the whole world is raving about her!! You’ve just no real concept of just how wonderful she is!! Unfortunately, she seems to have a violent-streak in her, I suspect from childhood, which has proved her undoing in this case. Let’s hope she can exorcise it, just keep singing sweetly and forget the rest!!

Love my girl, Rihanna!! Think Brown is a *hit!!

‘J’, you’re making a lot of assumptions or are u just cadging for a ride in it! You’ve only got to ask and, the next time I come to Bim I’ll c what I can do!! The experience is exquisite!! Almost better than sex!! The speed is unimaginable and wonderful!!

    *************

By the way, would you like to see my poem-dedication to the wonderful Rihanna?!!

  153. RIHANNA is absolutely stunning I have heard, and when she walks into a room all heads turn. I saw the Disturbia video and my dears the girl is a rocker, she can sing too. No other singer can hold a candle to Rihanna, Beyonce, she nice, just another American girl from East Texas though, Paris Hilton, she is nice too, but she is no Rihianna, Amy Winehouse well she is the living dead, they said on the news Rihanna is coming home to Barbados. Does Monica live in Barbados, I think Monica should be with Rihanna and if Monica can’t then Mother Braithwaite should be with her.

  154. Is where this 199 cents poem 199 that you touting here since yesterday and nothing. You can’t do better, and you know it and I know it.

You sound a bit paranoid to me.
I know all about the one drop rule, but this isn`t my issue.
    My issue isn`t racial,but CULTURAL.
What i say,is that Obama is not a result of slavetrade and that stuff, and therefor do not have the mental baggage that f.ex. You carry with you.
Of course white people do not really see the difference outside, but inside his heritage is a BIT different.
    He has a calmer attitude.;-))

  156. Anonymous, I’ve completed the poem and it’s ‘a beauty’!! However, nobody’s asked me to show it to them, yet!!

I agree with u, completely, about Rihanna. She supercedes all of those other ‘stars’ u mentioned!! I’d rather watch our girl than any of those others, any day, any time!!

  157. Anon, the poem’s titled, ‘Rihanna Blue’!!

    Nice title, eh?!!

  158. Do u think Rihanna reads this blog!! If only we could hear from our girl, ourselves, nuh!!

    Sigh!!

  159. I had a look at ‘Bajan Poetry’s’ website but could n’t see nuh poetry pun day!!

  160. 199, Yes she does read, I know so, because at first she never acknowledged that her Mum was Guyanese, but I was here pushing her Guyanese side, and all of sudden I seeing they are saying Mum is Guyanese, so somebody reading, and I have been here a long time now typing and typing away whenever the subject matter is our girl. Can hardly wait to read your poem.

  161. Hi Anonymous, delighted to hear that ur also, a Rihanna fanatic! She’s the best! Hope ur right about her reading here and that she’ll take my advice above and keep away from idiots! I wonder if she noticed how fast Leona Lewis was to distance herself from the boy and any damage such association might have on her career!!

Rihanna sweets, if ur reading give us a “hello” and then I’ll publish my poem devoted to u and only u!! :)

  162. Tempting first line ‘snippet’!!:

    Dats all for now!!

    Laaaaadddddddddddddddd!!!! :)

  163. Hi 199 you and I reading off the same page, as I read last night that Rihanna and Leona Lewis did a project together, and I was wondering if Rihanna told Leona of her Guyanese background. You are too much, the poem is wonderful yes, wonderful. She is due back in Babados shortly, and if I was there I would be at Seawell shouting Yeah Yeah Rihanna come back. She is indeed a beautiful girl, a true beauty, and what a presence she has.

  164. Partly BDS Girl, well I am glad to hear that a least somebody that looks like us does not have high blood pressure, since he so calm as you say. But the fact remains he was born here, and has had to deal with them and all they shennaigans so I am not too sure about what you saying.

  165. Anonymous, sugar!! Agree with u 100% about Rihanna and if I could, old as I am, I’d be at the airport with u, waving and shouting and welcoming our girl, back home!!

By the way, that’s only the first two lines sugar! Much more delights to come but others have also, to be interested in reading it otherwise I’ll feel silly!!

    Lord!!

  166. Dear 199:

Give us the whole thing nuh!!!!

    “Rihanna Blue”

  167. Anybody see any pictures of Chris Brown’s groin?

    AAAAAAAAAAghhhhhhhhhhh

  168. Bad Man Saying Nuttin

I just have to say this; while Rihanna is an international success and is by far the most widely recognised singer to come out of Barbados She is very limited Vocally. in terms of creativity there is very little there ; her music , words and performances are manufactured by a publicity and marketing machine that is the commercial record label today. vocally she is far the inferior of gwen stefani, fergie, beyonce, Jill Scott; jennifer Hudson and a whole host more but she is far more popular; When I see her win a Grammy for Song of the year, record of the year or Album of the year then that will be proof of creative quality and musical excellence. While winning a grammy, any grammy, is a fine achievement some categories are a better measure of excellence.

Having said all that i acknowledge that she may not be about making excellent music, she may be about making money and selling records which is perfectly alright if that is what you want to do but that type of music fades fast and is dependent on a fickle fan base.

  169. Ok J, uv twisted my arm!! Here’re another 2 line!! Too, sweet to give in one go!!

    Rihanna baby
    Sky-bird blue
Welcome back to the waters new
Of Barbados’ golden-brew (the Barbadian sea)!!

  170. More tomorra!!

    Laaaaaadddddddddddddddd!!!!

  171. What I caan onstan is dat ‘Barbadian Poetry’ claims to b a poet yet, he doan seem intrested!! Wha kine a poet he is?!!

  172. Give it up,199!

  173. Bad man saying nuttin …good user name because you havent said nuttin at all…
Janet, Madonna, Britney and even Beyonce all are not strong vocalists but they are all great performers …and so is Rihanna and please remeber that she is just about to be 21. Lets look back at how these above sang and performed back then!

  179. Rihanna in that Disturbia video comes across as a strong no nonsense female, she is sexy too, but the underlying message is that I am strong don’t you try anything with me. I see what Bush Tea is saying. Chris comes across as mere boy, but Rihanna is this strong sexy woman, so I don’t know.

  180. She is not an object for brutalizing
Don’t show your love by strictly beating
A woman is a thing of joy and beauty

  181. For all you poets out there….I’d like you to google Lyrics to “Emergency Room” by Akon and Rihanna. This is one of the cuts on her new CD coming out soon entitled “RiRi”. I’m interested to hear your comments after checking it out.

  182. I can only assume that you people don’t appreciate brilliant poetry!!

  183. All this crap about ‘strong woman’ might be why she’s ended up where she is! She may have been surprised to discover there’re others even stronger than her!! U can rely on the feminists to talk *hit and sadly, our girl may have fallen for it, to her cost!!

  184. Congratulations, Asiba!! I guess that’s the level of ‘poem’ which Bajans appreciate. I subscribe to something more sophisticated!!

  185. Asiba, I read the jacket and tie thing and I say no, don’t wear them. Love your poem too.

  186. Well a poem could be a song and a song a poem BUT the above is a song
    simple and straight forward.

I recorded this song and it is available at the radio stations and other places.

I performed this song in the Tents where it was well received. To me, the tent version is a sweeter version , it has different arrangements with the horns playing a role that reflect the skills of arranger Smokey Roett.

  187. Asiba, are you acknowledging that the poem is n’t even your own creation but somebody else’s?!!

  188. I was opposed to Rihanna having a boyfriend at her age and with her career

I believe that she does not need the distraction

I believe that if the hormones are kicking in-if necessary a nice liitle fellow in barbados could solve that problem=(but I dont advocate that to the nation anyhow——-I believe -abstinence until marriage is the way to go)

I believe that at their ages jealousy and possesiveness becomes a big thing.

sometimes simply talking to another person becomes a big crisis in relationships that involve teenagers

  189. Devil's Advocate

RiRi Rocks as an entertainer and whoever says not could ____ ____ off !!!

Despite all the star she is made out to be remember she is a regular girl who is probably going through so much right now and despite all that has happend the worse pain she is probably feeling is a broken heart and the pain and disappointment of the loss of a relationship. So all a wunna should stop commenting on what wunna dont know bout and continue to support our Girl in whatever she does!

  190. 199,
Waitttttttt, dah was suppose to be a ‘poem’? Tell de trute, I tawt you was writin a ‘love letta’. Ya bad doe. Keep um up.
    Ya sweet devil.
    Happy Valentines anyway.

  191. Well Asiba I like the words to your song, but the fact is I just love your name. Asiba the Buffalo Soldier, ever so often that name pops into my head, Asiba the Buffalo Soldier, it is so nice. I have not seen you for while though, and then here you show.

  192. well it is february 14th
love is definitely in the air

  193. this blog is funny!!!!. I only just discovered it. I must say that if Rihanna is going to assist in the prosecution of that lil criminal, I congratulate her. I see this kind of abuse every day in my job, it is no mean fun to see women all busted up by these cowardly men. I sincerely hope that she cut all ties with him, professionally as well as personally. She can do better. Dont be afraid girl, we half Guyanese and Bajan women are strong, kick him to the curb. You people in this blog should give the girl some support and stop being so critical of Ri. What if it were your sister, mother or daughter, how would you feel then, huh.

  194. Well, I am going to see if I can arrange for a shipment of big ass BIm rockstones to go to Rihanna, coz clearly she had none at hand. Chris Brown is a punk. Provoked or not…to pummel someone’s face to that degree and then be “rueful and remorseful” is nonsense. He needs some anger management, i.e. a good few Bajans to meet him up somewhere and show him how a black eye for a black is really wuk! Foolish little boy… my grannie used to say, ya raise ya hand to a woman, ya might as well raise it to the Lord in surrender.

  195. sorry, as above, i meant a black eye for a black eye…just so we doan no connotations going on here too!!!

  196. ‘Comfort’, u think we “should give her some support”!! Have u read the blog!!

He’s an ugly twat, anyway!! She can do much better than that!!

Ok, Bonny!! Sorry u did n’t like the poem and, ‘Tech’, can u honestly swear to posting under just one moniker on this board!!

  197. Bonny, sorry, only replied to your post this a.m. here!!

  198. These are the lyrics to Rihanna’s song “Emergency Room” which she sings with Akon on her upcoming CD. Clearly, this is almost a premonition of what went down between her and Chris Brown. It also makes one think about what’s going on with this young woman to be singing such dribble. I’m beginning to think that she has “jealousy managment” issues which brought out the “anger management” issues in Chris Brown. Anyway, here are the lyrics:

    Verse 1
I was pickin’ up your clothes in the closet (closet)
I was bout’ to throw your jeans in the washer (washer)
Til I saw a piece of paper sayin’ “Tasha” (Tasha)
I gotta say I found this a bit shockin’
And some reciepts here that say you went shoppin’
    You bought some Nike shoes
    But why you buyin stockings?
Boy how could you lie to me?
I thought you would die for me
    I’m not accepting another apology.

    Bridge
After three years, I’ma let it go
Can’t stand around cryin’ no more
Got your bags packed sittin’ by the door
I’ma leave you heart broken on the floor

    Chorus
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
    I’m standing by your bed
And so-tempted to pull out your IV
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
    I’m fightin’ with myself
I can’t hurt you even though you hurt me
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
Tryin’ to call a nurse but nobody can help you now
Let me see you try to live without me
    Now where’s your heartbeat?
    Flat line on the E-K-G

    Verse 2
Well I was home late at night watchin’ TV
Got a call from my girl sayin’ “RiRi
Saw your man in the club
I thought he was out of town doin’ business
Said that he’d be back in three weeks”
    Now I’m mad (mad)
Sittin’ in the kitchen gettin sad (sad)
    Lookin’ at your pictures
Boy how could you lie to me?
I thought you would die for me
    I’m not accepting another apology.

    Bridge
After three years, I’ma let it go
Can’t stand around cryin’ no more
Got your bags packed sittin’ by the door
I’ma leave you heart broken on the floor

    Chorus
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
    I’m standing by your bed
And so tempted to pull out your IV
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
    I’m fightin’ with myself
I can’t hurt you even though you hurt me
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
Tryin’ to call a nurse but nobody can help you now
Let me see you try to live without me
    Now where’s your heartbeat?
    Flat line on the E-K-G

    Verse 3
I did you wrong girl (I did)
Had a bunch of numbers in my phone girl (I did)
But we been in this relationship to long girl
For you to be listening to your silly home girls
    Better go on girl
    Now baby think about it
Everything we gonna do they gonna read about it
Put it on the radio and TV outlet
Do you wanna see your picture in that paper?
    You know them haters…
    You hear that 808
    The drum… that’s my heartbeat
    I’m going numb
I said Rihanna, I’m feelin stressed
    I’m goin under cardiac arrest

    Chorus
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
    I’m standing by your bed
And so tempted to pull out your IV
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
    I’m fightin’ with myself
I can’t hurt you even though you hurt me
You gonna be in the Emergency Room
Tryin to call a nurse but nobody can help you now
Let me see you try to live without me
    Now where’s your heartbeat?
    Flat line on the E-K-G

  199. OH PUHHHLEEEEEEEZ!
its so pathetic the way we are so indulgent in the lives of these so called stars!
i KNOW this whole “she got a black eye, bite marks” etc are all LIES. there is no doubt now that chris hit rihanna but the fact is, he probably just slapped her or something, no wonder the dad is not fuming.
the point is, there are tonnnes of women who are goin through this everyday and the spotlight should be on them. why is there an outpour of sympathy? because rihanna is a star? i bet if stacy down the street got beat by her man and posted it on the net, no one would even have time to say im sorry for what youre going through.
everything about rihanna is overexaggerated, and that makes her very annoying to me.
i mean barbados did the most stupid thing i have ever heard of, they dedicated a whole day to her and gave her numerous presents because she won a grammy, now a bajan wins a noble price and did anyone give him a coconut? NO, nothing!!!!
what message does this send out to bajan youth? – be a pop star not someone who makes a difference to the world!
countless of kids will drop out of school because of people like rihanna and here is why- rihanna has the a mediocre voice many girls her age have and she has had tremendous success, now a girl her age wil be thinkin well if rihanna can do it, then so can i- i need to pursue this career. then bang- out of school.
now jay-z please keep your mouth closed! why should we all support rihanna? why? because she is a star? until i know wat happened none of these kids get my support or sympathy.
i am will not condone any sort of violence, be it against man or woman. rihanna slapped chris back in barbados when they came home, and i know that was not the first or the last. kick a dog long enough and soon enough its gonna bite u.
men should never hit women, yes, but women should not mistaken men for a punching bag either. Why is it ok for a woman to hit a man but not the other way round? dont hit and you wont get hit! men are not robots, they have a breaking point too.
again wat kinda message is this sending out to young girls- hit a man its ok.
rihanna is not a child! the girl is 20 years old, going on 21, females her age start families and are responsible so please stop makin it as if she is this frail young thing that got abused. so fuckin annoying!

  200. Bonny and all of you, Ri is in Barbados right now. I just cam eon line and the headlines on the I guess first page of the computer says that Ronald Fenty is speaking out about Ri’s situation with Chris Brown. Rihanna you don’t need Chris Brown, the Lord has got great things in sotre for you, he is just a boy in a big body. Have fun at home and a bid Hello to your lovely Mum Monica, and the Braithwaite family. Lvoe you

  201. truth hurts // February 15, 2009 at 7:25 pm

ha ha ha ha my sentiments exactly!

  202. @ truth hurts

I now have read the rest of your comments and I DO LIKE Ri Ri however, if this had happened to Mary down the road man people would say “that aint nothing new, leh we play dominoes!”

It doesn’t only happen to Ri Ri it happens to women all over the world!

DEAL WITH THIS SITUATION ALL THE TIME, not NOW because it happened to Ri Ri!

  203. Rihanna is we Princess Dianna!
Now I am going to call her Princess Rihanna.

  204. Truth Hurts,
You spot on boy. Ya know ya marbles. I wid you a million percent. Ya good man, ya good. Doan know ya but ma luvs ya bad. Ya good. Doan mind de shite-blabbers like Sister Baby.

    Sister Baby,
‘cording to de young people, ‘you got issues’. Go an wash down ya yard wid J’s fluid or sumting and stop confusing de place man. Who k if she is you Princess Diana or Peggy de Parro? stuupseeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  205. @ Bonny Peppa

Woman, you does mek me laff. ha ha ha.

Poor Sister Baby. She been around these blogs preaching about a man she has never met and does not know.

What ‘sista baby’ needs is a good, strong, black man that raised pun flying fish and nuff sea moss, raw sea eggs and eddoe soup, with scalded okras on the side. Once she taste he wood, she would be singing a different song. I suggest he keep she in bed fuh 3 days, lol.

  206. Seriously, I think if Chris did beat up Rihanna that she should file charges. If she does not, he will do it again.

I was in a similar position in 1975 and I went through with it. The bloke got a criminal record and was deported because where I am, common assault is a criminal offence.

To remind me of how nasty some men can be, I kept the cheque. The cheque was $6. for being witness for the Crown. I have it in my photo album. Strange that when my friends see it and I explain how I got it and why I did not cash it, no one believes me. They laugh and think I am joking.

I sympathise with the lady. I have been there.

  207. Pat,
Whatzup baby girl? Long time no hear.

But why ya trying ta spile Bonny? OR lime juice can’ spile vinegar? Ya wicked.

Happy Valentines ta ya good self.

  208. Pat,
I’ve been there too ya kno? But he was left wid a scar in he face to cah he ta he grave. An’ we still together for many many moons but he nevva try dah ‘hitting-shite’ wid me again. We were arguing and as usual ,he was arguing wrong and strong and he call me a idiot and i tell he like ya mama, and he throw a glass of ice water in my face. Well , when de smoke clear and Bonny get back she vision, i reach fa de nearest UFO in sight, which happen to be a crystal candleholder (one a we wedding gifts by de way) and I just introduce it to he face wid real spite.
“Hit and ye shall be hitten back”.

  209. @ Bonny Peppa.

Man you not easy. To tell the truth, I shared some blows royally. But I dont like to lose a fight … so I took the winner to court – and won there!!! nuff said! lol!

Some people may call me bad, but I look out for myself.

  210. Catwoman, I think ur so right! As I said earlier, she’s a wonderful singer but making the mistake of taking the words of her songs, literally!!

Quote:”Partly BDS Girl, well I am glad to hear that a least somebody that looks like us does not have high blood pressure, since he so calm as you say. But the fact remains he was born here, and has had to deal with them and all they shennaigans so I am not too sure about what you saying.”

He has a calmer and more diverce attitude, and a more mixed up background that makes him more suited and less “dangerous”.
Therefor he became president also for white USA.
Of course blacks of all backgrounds can be hit by racism.
But what I try to get in your skull, is that his cultural background makes him more suitable to be a black president than a “genuine” afro-american.
He is a cosmopolitan, and even if he is politically black,he will forever remember his white Mother.

  213. Yes girls, Bonny and Pat, I agree, but as long as that nice rosey black man an come to me with something from the importer.

  214. Sister Baby
Why compromise de real ting fa de imported ‘stuff’. You gotta be crazy man. You like you ‘anti-man’. I gotta watch you yah.

  215. Truth Hurts and Bonny Peppa, two spiteful, envious, mean spirited jackasses. You all cant see the future. You dont know if a man going put some lashes on you or your family. Why hate Rihanna you retards?

  217. Partly BDS Girl, you not making sense, and I am not interested in his cultural background, all I know I voted for him, for the Lord raised up a great black man to save the world and the Lord has kept me alive to be able to vote for him and I am thanking him, and asking for kind mercies and guidance for our dear President Obama, whether he has a white lady mother makes no difference to me, but it look to me like you saying only white or part white people are suitable for the Presidency. I can name many African Americans for the Presidency General Colin Powell, Miss Opah Winfrey, Tavis Smiley, Linda Johnson Rice. Good night.

  218. Bonny, You have the importer there so something amiss, maybe the importer doing a lucarative business at Bushy Park.

  219. That is right, we all family up in here, so lets show some love for RiRi

There is a little saying that goes: Put makeup on a PIG and at the end of the day it is still a PIG—-Chris Brown. I feel for Rhianna because NO ONE should have to be punched and abused because of a bully. Chris is a thug and a bully! You’d think after what he saw his step dad do to his mom, he’d be careful and not repeat the same behavior? I never thought highly of him…I knew he is a thug—he has the look.

It does not matter whether or not Rhianna slapped hm, threw his cell or even spat on him— he should NOT have abused her. He is an abuser, a real young one, good for nothing lowlife with a great voice and a horrible temper. I am praying that they find him guilty and send his rascal to jail. America has a way of allowing criminals to slip Thu the cracks because they have money— I wish I was the prosecutor on this case. Rhianna you have our support. Please hal quickly and leave that rat1 Hollywood has enough young, respectable men who have class and are nothing like Chris Brown.

  225. Anonymous,
Ya got ma crying. I luv um. But dah in gun stop me from ‘busing’ you when ya talking pupp an’ attackin’ me.
Wah is de carnage? I tink you mean de careenage. Ya duncy bitch. Carnage is associated with the killing of people. OK? You sound like a GTbanna.
When ya call ma a ‘pissy bitch’ I almost fall of de ol rockin’ chair laffin. You feel dat you could ruffle my feathers wid dat shite-folly? You is a real clown. Go an’ look fa a nudda sheep pun de pasture. Ga long.

  226. Gossip Corner: I received an email today giving me a little scoop into this saga. Apparently Chris Brown broke off the relationship a few weeks ago and Rihanna was taking it hard. Their managers asked them to appear at some before-the-Grammys big shot party and to appear ‘lovey-dovey’. Now on their way to the Grammys, it is alleged that Chris decided to pick up his new ‘fling’ and take her to the Grammys with him. Well, as you would imagine, Rihanna went balistic on him and he retaliated. The ‘fling’ it is assumed, is the one who called 199.Authorities are trying to get her to tell her side of the story in court.

We shall wait with baited breath to hear the outcome of this ‘soap-opera’.

  227. Sorry, it should be 911. I like i got dat demon 199 on me mind.

This new ‘fling’ is said to be very popular too and well-known.

We shall wait and see as it unfolds.

  231. I am watching the news on TV right now and I just heard on the news that an East Indian man from South Africa chopped off his East Indian wife’s head in a domestic violence dispute. Just thought I would break the news here as we talking about Rihanna and Chris. This happened in New York City.

  232. @ Bonny Peppa:

The beating incident happened the night before the Grammy ceremony.

    @Sista baby:

The man chopped off his wife’s head because she asked for a divorce. He is the head of a Muslim TV station near Buffalo. Apparently, she got s ick of the constant domestic violence. She was his second wife and she has two small children. The court meeting this week to decide what to do with the kids. Both sets of grand parents have flown in for the hearing. One set from Texas and the other from Pakistan.

  233. Thank you Pat, They just had a little snipet of that news here. I tell you these men come to like saints, but look how quickly they can turn into monsters.

  245. Settlement reached in Chris Brown’s alleged beating of Rihanna

A plea deal has been reached between Los Angeles prosecutors and pop star Chris Brown, who is accused of assaulting singer Rihanna before the Grammy Awards.

Brown will plead guilty to a felony and receive six months in jail or community labor — such as graffiti removal or trash pickup — and five years’ formal probation. He will also undergo domestic violence counseling. Judge Patricia Schnegg said he will be allowed to complete counseling, community labor and probation in his native Virginia, but is to be treated there like any other offender.

[Updated at 2:15 p.m.: Schnegg says she plans to issue "a stay-away" order barring Chris Brown from having contact with Rihanna. But an attorney for Rihanna said she doesn't want the order. Sources told The Times that Brown's camp initially rejected the plea agreement and had been mulling the settlement for several days.]

[Updated at 2:26 p.m.: "I think it is comendable you took responsibility for your conduct," Schnegg told Brown.

After Chris Brown left with his entourage, Rihanna was brought into the courtroom and informed of the stay-away order by the judge. “Thank you,” she told the judge and then left through a back door of the courtroom.]

  246. Looks like she may salvage something out of the ordeal after all.

  247. TThere seems to be conflicting reports about Brown’s sentence. I read somewhere that he would do community service but it was not mentioned in this article.

I am not one bit surprise that he was not ordered to spend a day in jail.
