Barbados No Longer Considered A Godly Country, Despite Having Many Churches

July 18, 2009 · 143 Comments

prophetOur rabid some may say fanatical religious constituents have been starved recently. We crave their understanding given our prioritization of other matters.

Some of our learned religious crew have suggested that it is mandatory for the ordinary man to be equipped with a top of the drawer religious concordance if they want to accurately divide the Word. BU believes there is some merit in the position given the obvious relevance of  language to time. Where we depart with our resident religious academicians is the position taken that they should not engage with some BU family members who have been deemed devilish, therefore they must be disqualified from any engagement of dividing the word with the likes of Zoe, GP et al. In the same way a student is encouraged by the teacher of literature to procure a concordance handbook to bring clarity to Shakespearean verse, so too a compassionate God would have instructed his disciples to do the same.

In the Nation newspaper of 17 June 2009 Senator Peter Millington issued the prophecy, I am sensing something very terrible. Whether it be a 7.5 earthquake, a Category 3 hurricane or a tsunami, I don’t know but Barbados is no longer considered a godly country, despite having many churches. And what God is doing now is judging us,” he said. A revelation coming from such a well placed figure in the Upper House must be causing some to squirm. Senator Pastor Millington elaborated, it was now too late to avert the coming disaster as God had saved Barbados many times before but, due to the continuing wickedness in Barbados, any cries for help would now fall on deaf ears.

Whether Millington’s prophecy comes to pass he is a bold man to put his reputation and credibility on the line, hisis faith must be strong!

No surprise! Barbados is now believed to be a rich country, almost there with those North of the equator.
‘Riches’ bring diversions of another kind.
To be poor, one would be rewarded in heaven is what we were told.
Today, we can see what being ‘rich’ is and once the smell permeates, the addiction cannot be cured.
To be poor and humble was what our forefathers were fed. Most of them were illiterate then, now we are educated and can think for ourselves.
There is no merit in being humble.
Our generation is beginning to learn fast, that being nice, poor, honest and going to church on Sundays will never show that one was successful.
One is judged to be successful by what he can show; a large car, a big house, nice holidays and plenty money in the Bank. If that means dog eat dog to get it; no niceties, the good neighbour has gone; charity begins at home; “I and I”.
In years gone the Priest,, Vicar,Bishop, Evangelist, could command respect; most people believed they were God on earth. Some of the above have brought shame and disgrace on what we call religion.
Bajans are believing that the above used religion as a form of slavery so the rich can have the biggest piece of the cake.
“Religion is the OPIUM of the people”— Karl Marx.

With due respect to you David, I doubt very much that “rabid” or “fanatical religious academicians” are apt descriptions of either Zoe or myself. Nor do I think we have been recently starved. Rather other issues has stalled my efforts to continue sharing thoughts on the scriptures concerning the revelation of the antichrist, and other issues related to the eschaton or end times. Though not commenting, I have followed some of the current issues on the blog.

Re Some of our learned religious crew have suggested that it is mandatory for the ordinary man to be equipped with a top of the drawer religious concordance if they want to accurately divide the Word. BU believes there is some merit in the position given the obvious relevance of language to time.

Certainly possession of Schofield’s Reference Bible, Strong’s Concordance and Vines Dictionary of Hebrews and Greek Words which work hand in hand are very helpful tools for interested persons who are not either Greek or Hebrew scholars, and who would like to delve deeper into the background of some passages.

It is to be noted that there are many very ordinary men and women in Barbados in some good Bible teaching local churches who use such books, and who have been studying the Bible inductively since their teens.

I myself started very ordinarily doing the same thing over 40 years ago. And I know off ambulance drivers and watchmen, and carpenters and masons and policemen, postal workers and plumbers etc who have done the same from their youth.

I know for a fact that the Postmaster General still turns to the notes in his Schofield as he saw his dad do some 50 years ago!

Our position is that in the same way a student is encouraged by the teacher of literature to procure necessary references to bring clarity to Shakespearean verse, so too serious Bible students also have certain books in their libraries that facilitate a better understanding seeing that the Bible is a translated book, and since in any translated work, some nuances and finer points in the meaning of the words are lost in translation.

Our position is NOT that a compassionate God has instructed his disciples to acquire hand books and reference books but that Jesus instructs us to SEARCH the scriptures and Paul enjoins us to STUDY in order to rightly divide or interpret the scriptures.

Senator Peter Millington is certainly a bold man to put his reputation and credibility on the line, and certainly His faith must be strong! But if he was given a word from the Lord, he can do no less than deliver it. He can be perceived as no more crazy or silly than was Noah or Jeremiah or Isaiah in their day! To proclaim future doom or gloom is not an easy job. Nor is it one for which much gratitude might be expected.

It is indeed true that despite having many churches, that Barbados is no longer a godly country. Although Barbados has many churches people are allow their credence to the tradition of the church or church leaders to make them hypocrites.

Many in the church are teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. In other words they substitute the DOCTRINE in the Word of God by the DENOMINATIONAL DOGMA of their traditions.

Many in the church reject the commandment of God, in order to keep their own traditions In other words they substitute the Word of God by their traditions.

Many in the church make the word of God of none effect through their traditions. These are issues that are clearly evident from an exegesis of Mark 7.

It would not be surprising if God does judge us soon due to the escalating and continuing wickedness in Barbados from the top of the society to the bottom. There is also evidence of great spiritual wickedness in high places. Whereas, much of what is happening in Barbados is mirrored elsewhere in the world, we have no excuse, since to whom much is given, much is required.

It is not unreasonable to think that it was now too late to avert the coming disaster because God has indeed saved Barbados many times in the past. It is also not unreasonable to think that any cries for help would now fall on deaf ears.

God appears to be judging nations elsewhere around the world including the so called powerful USA. We can not expect Barbados to be exempt for ever.

David I think that Zoe and I are not interested in just any engagement of dividing the word, but we are interested IN THE RIGHT DIVISION OF THE WORD OF TRUTH.

I think people are trying to get too complicated with this Christian religion. There are simple methods to being a Christian, Love the Lord and love your neighbour as yourself. a person knows right from wrong so it is simple; plus if you stray, as human you might sometimes. you ask forgiveness.

A taunt to be provocative, we stand chided, as you know we have nothing but love for the family:-)

  • The Scout // July 18, 2009 at 6:54 PM

Shristianity in Barbados, like the USA, has become a big business. Every school, rvrty little meeting spot, even in private homes, people are setting up churches. Eventually, these people are driving some big SUV’s and quite recently, I’m seeing some very big churches being built. To me Barbados has many churches and many denominations but fewer and fewer Christians. i had a friendwho was told by the church she attended that something serious was going to happen by a particular date. She and some others who could have afforded it left the island and their families; nothing happened and they returned with their tails betwwen their legs. A know of a particular business man who left his wife here in Barbados and returned to his homeland, Bermuda and vow not to return to Barbados until the disaster he dreamt about occurs. It’s all in the Master’s hand, lust live according to his laws.

Religion should be a purely personal pursuit. It is time Barbados move into the 21st century and consign religion to the entertainment section of the news.

Millington’s prophecy is nothing more than junk.

Every few years one of these jokers come up with this gloom and doom, I sure that we all recall the last idiot’s prophecy not too long before the last general election. Whatever happened to that?

Millington appear to have too much time on his hands.

The sad part of it all, he is a DLP Senator. People may start believing that the DLP is a party of wackos.

  • Anonymous // July 18, 2009 at 7:36 PM

Not a truer word C. Cadogan!

  • TheNickster // July 18, 2009 at 9:24 PM

People are killing themselves just by what they eat every day, diabetes kills more people than the hurricanes that hit here with in the past few decades. Cancer causing products are still being used widespread and cigarettes and liquor are still legally killing people every year. So God still needs an earthquake or a tsunami? Think God is smarter than Millington might imagine.

  • David // July 18, 2009 at 9:29 PM

On the 1 January 2010 and all is well in paradise what happens to Millington? Will it be business as usual?

  • Themis // July 18, 2009 at 9:48 PM

    @ David,
I hope that Thompson would dismiss him from the Senate in such a case. Can anyone remind me what is it that caused him to be selected again?

  • Wright B.Astard // July 18, 2009 at 9:53 PM

Its a pity that Witches and false Profits are no longer burnt at the stake, when their prediction falls through. These people play on the minds of weaker persons, in the same way that the established churches and their mainly expatriate priest/vicars once played on the minds of the poor working class people of this country in the name of the Plantocracy. An old policeman once said there are two Police Forces in the island, the (Royal) Barbados Police Force and the Churches.

One’s relationship with God is indeed a purely personal pursuit. But can not one share such a pursuit with others as we share our other pursuits?

Why do you think that the people’s personal relationship with God ,and their willingness or desire to share it with others should be viewed as entertainment?

What does one’s embracement of faith in God has to do with Barbados’ move into the 21st century?

Is it not true that having now entered the 21st century that many of the maladies prevalent in earlier times still visit us today?

    @ Carson C. Cadogan
Millington’s prophecy is no more junk than any prediction put out by the DLP or any other group in Barbados.

Do you say that writers on this blog who support the DLP have too much time on their hands too? Is it a crime or a sin to have too much time on his hands too?

Would it not be wise to reserve judgment on Millington until the period for his prediction passes, before one calls him a joker or an idiot?
Were not Noah and many of the prophets (including Jesus himself) ridiculed for their predictions of gloom and doom? Have not many of these predictions not come to past?

    @ TheNickster

Why do you presume that you know more about God than Millington.
Why should God not judge Barbados by an earthquake or a tsunami? Why should God not judge Barbados by any method?
Is Barbados above the judgement of God?
Are we better than Sodom or Gomorrah or Tyre & Sidon or Ninevah or any other place that God has judged in either the recent or remote pass?
When was the last time a hurricane hit Barbados?
Might not God judge our people for the abuse of the widespread use of drugs like nicotine, liquor and other drugs whether legal or illegal?

    @ David
Why should it not be business as usual if all is well in paradise on the 1 January 2010?
Are we going to fire the ministers of Government who are not performing then? Or is it a thing most deplorable for someone to make a religious opinion, than it is for someone to draw a salary from the State, and don’t function properly?

    @ Themis
Why should Millington be removed from the Senate if his prediction fails to come to pass.? Might not the prayers of the believers on the island not avert a disaster again?

Has Thompson removed Rihanna from her post following her rather stupid behavior and poor deportment?

Has he removed the failing ministers and other public officials from office for their obvious failure to perform their duties.

Does anyone know why a number of the other senators were selected?

    @Wright B.Astard
We don’t burn politicians when they fail to deliver on their promises, so why should we rant and rave against because a pastor makes a prediction that has a reasonable probability of fulfillment seeing that we have had no hurricanes for 55 years?

After all as intimated by an earlier poster, priests and evangelists etc no longer have much power or influence over the people.

In what way was/is the church a police force? What laws do the church police and ensure that they are beheld? It seems that your “old policeman” was just an ignorant bull shitter.

Generally, have we all in Barbados lost our capacity to think rationally?

  • Georgie Porgie // July 18, 2009 at 10:57 PM

    @ Micro Mock Engineer

It’s a long time since we have seen you.
Have you been embroiled in your research on apoptosis?

I don’t think that either Zoe or I have predicted that the rapture will occur by 1 January 2013. I hold to Jesus’ teaching in the Olivet Discourse not to set dates for the exact time of the Rapture of the Church.

However, by noticing the fulfillment of signs that Jesus gave in Matthew 24 that are designed to indicate the onset of the Rise of Antichrist and the Tribulation period, one can more eagerly at this time anticipate the occurrence of the Rapture (if one believes in a pre-triblulation rapture.(as you know some believers believe that the rapture occurs during the tribulation.)

Quae cum ita sint, I don’t think you can honestly say that either Zoe or I have predicted that the rapture will occur by 1 January 2013 on this blog. I have, however, been hearing that some folk are putting that date out there.

I would not go that far, but I do sincerely believe that the rapture is not very far away.

I’m curious. Please explain something to me. Where was your god at Sobibor (my mother was there, and she wondered about your god)?

Where was your god in Terezin? Where was your god at Auschwitz-Birkenau (my mother was there as well) ?

If you can explain this to me, I’ll be at your church tomorrow.

    Thanks.

The modus operandi of a politician is to promise constituents manna. Doesn’t the word politician has a latin derivative which validates the role as someone who is expected to make promises?

On the other hand a man of the cloth is expected to deliver on predictions given their intimate relationship with God.

  • TheNickster // July 19, 2009 at 6:41 AM

    @ Really Really
My presumption is that Millington knows about as much about God as you do.
If the out come of “judgment” is death then it is apparent that we are doing a good job of killing ourselves off.
Based on what your implying the other islands got what they deserved for their decadent lifestyles.
Sodom and Gomorrah? Lot was saved and slept with his own daughters, not sure you want to highlight that particular part. When was the last time we had a good rain of locusts? or why not our drinking water into blood?, vermin in the streets? Darkness?!? is it too much of a stretch of yours and Millington’s imagination?

Well since we’re going into prophecy I’ll lay mine down: I predict incidences of cancer will increase, diabetes will be found in one of every three children, flouride will render the population mentally stunted. The economy will collapse and your politicians and those who can afford will wing their way to foreign shores, leaving the poor and hungry to fend for themselves.

    A. Not all just those who hold religious beliefs as more than guides (of human origin) to personal behavior.

Now why should Georgie’s God be present at Auschwitz or Sobibor or Terezin? Don’t you and your kind serve a different ‘god?’ Isn’t your ‘god’ the superior ‘god’ which created you as a ’superior’ people? Where was your ‘god?’ What did GP’s God have to do with those places?

  • David // July 19, 2009 at 11:20 AM

    Georgie Porgie Sire please elucidate!

It would not be surprising if God does judge us soon due to the escalating and continuing wickedness in Barbados from the top of the society to the bottom. IT MEANS NOTHING. Hey, now we’re here sitting in our pew … who’s that over there in that black dress — she look so BAD — let’s engage in some gossip before the service starts…. etc. Then they strut out after the service and continue in their poisonous way…

  • Georgie Porgie // July 19, 2009 at 2:29 PM

    David
Sir I do admire the fact that you ask questions rather than chat nonsense as many Bajans are prone to do with regard to things about which they know little, and with regard to things about which they have studied little, if at all

    You asked. .
Are you saying that God monitors a Sin Index and his manipulation of natural events is informed by the level?

Whereas I did not say or imply that God monitors a Sin Index and his manipulation of natural events is informed by the level, your obvious perception that he does, may be supported by many incidents in Scripture.

Examples include the flood, the destruction of the tower at Babel, the drowning of the Egyptians at the Sea of Reeds, the partial slaughter of the Caananites, the fall of the kingdoms of Israel, Judah, and Babylon as decribed in Daniel 5; and most of all, in the “fullness of time” the slaying of the Perfect Lamb of God for the Sins of the World.

So whereas I did not say or imply that God monitors a Sin Index and his manipulation of natural events is informed by the level, your obvious perception that he does, is not at all erroneous, and can be supported by several Scriptures.

If one believes the miracles in the Gospels about Jesus’ power over the winds and the storms, it is not unreasonable to conclude that God can indeed manipulate such natural events as typhoons, tornadoes and hurricanes. I think there is abundant historical evidence to support this view.

Re The original poster said: “BU believes there is some merit in the position given the obvious relevance of language to time.” I would be very grateful if someone could explain to me the “obvious” relevance of “language and time”.

It seems that our host David is not ashamed to admit that he might have learned a few new things from the Bible teachers on BU.

Here are a few examples on “obvious” relevance of “language and time”.

Now this might not interest you, Sir but I can assure you that folk who enjoy a good Bible study expect nuances like these examples to be given in a good exposition of the Word.

In Mark chapter 2 you will read of a delegation of Jewish leaders who accused Jesus & his disciples of eating with unwashen hands.

But this does not mean that we are describing dirty disciples, who never bothered to wash their hands before they ate. This is not a problem of hygiene at all. What bothered the Pharisees was that they did not do it in the right way.

You see, among the Jews, you could have washed your hands with finest of soaps, and scrubbed like a doctor preparing for surgery; but if you did not do it in a certain way, you were just as unclean, ceremonially, as though you had not washed at all.

In the Revised Standard Version there is a marginal note which says that one word in Verse 3 — in the phrase “wash their hands” — “is of uncertain meaning and is not translated.”

It is the word for “fist.” The translators in 1611 evidently had difficulty understanding how this word fit into the context. But scholars tell us that it was the rigid custom among the Jews to wash in this way:

The hands had to be held out, palms up, hands cupped slightly, and water poured over them. Then the fist of one hand was used to scrub the other, and then the other fist would scrub the first hand. This is why the fist is mentioned here.

Finally the hands again were held out, with palms down, and water was poured over them a second time to cleanse away the dirty water the defiled hands had been scrubbed with. Only then would a person’s hands be ceremonially clean. He might not even have been hygienically clean, but he would have been ceremonially clean.

That is, he would have been considered acceptable to God, having given strict attention to the prescribed ritual of cleansing, and thus would have been able to eat in a proper manner.

So strongly was this ingrained in them that, when one rabbi was imprisoned by the Romans for an offense, he used the drinking water brought to him in his solitary dungeon cell to wash his hands in this way. He almost died of thirst! That is how important it was to them to observe these traditions.

In revealing the development of tradition in Mark 7:8-10, Jesus said “You leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men.For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

It is interesting that the Greek word used here for “tradition” is the word for “surrender,” for “giving up,” for “substitution.” God says, “I want you.” But we say, “Would you mind just taking this instead — my money, my time, my wife, my children, my interests? But don’t touch me!” That is where tradition begins — by leaving the command of God and replacing it by a substitute as the tradition of men.

Another example in the same chapter. In verse 13 Jesus speaks about “corban.” This Greek word “corban” transliterates a Hebrew word that the Jews used when they dedicated something to God.

Jewish tradition permitted them to escape the responsibility to their parents by declaring something they owned as dedicated to God. If a man did not want to help his father and mother when they became old and needy, he would take the money which should have been spent on their father and mother, and dedicate his money or other possessions to the priest in the temple and say, “This is a Corban or gift devoted to God.” Their parents could not touch it or benefit from it because it was “dedicated” to God. Jesus cited this practice as one of the ways the Jews replaced the command of God and substituted a tradition of men

“Hardness of heart” is a prominent theme in Mark 6:31—8:26 (cf. 6:52; 8:14-21). It is also something that we are warned off in Hebrews 3:13. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

In Hebrews 3:13, the word “hardened” is translated from the Greek word for a callus. A callus forms around the break in a bone, on the palms of hands and on fingers from constant hard use, or in a person’s joints, paralyzing its actions.

In a moral context, it suggests “impenetrable,” “insensitive,” “blind,” or “unteachable.” A hardened attitude is not a sudden aberration but a habitual state of mind that shows itself in inflexibility of thinking and insensitivity of conscience. It can eventually make repentance impossible.

In Mark 7:37, Mark used a strong word – hyperperissos – to express the crowd’s amazement. It means “extremely overwhelmed” and is used also at Mark. 1:22; 6:2; 10:26; 11:18. Using Strong’s & Vines allows us to pick up this nuance.

In Mark 16 v 3 the women on their way to the tomb asked Who will roll away the stone? We notice in verse 4 that the stone was rolled away. While the phrase rolled away in the English looks the same as the one in verse 3, they are different terms in the Greek text.

In verse 3, the phrase rolled away means just to roll away. But in verse 4, the word used means to do more than just roll it away, but also to roll it up, completely out of the way, out of its track or guide.

The significance of this is that this large stone could not be replaced by anything less than a large number of very strong men. If it had been merely rolled aside, the Roman guards could have quickly rolled it back in its track and had the imperial seal replaced and kept quiet about what had occurred. But the stone was moved away from the front of the tomb, and the guards took off.

Finally in John 20 we have this account in verses 4 -8.
    4. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
    5. And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.
    6. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, 7. And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
    8. Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.

Note that the verb to “see” appears three times. It is of interest to scholars that three different Greek words are used. The Stromg’s concordance would allow you to pick that up easily, since each word would be listed with its own Strong’s number.

Then if you check the meaning of the words used in the original Greek in Vine’s or Wuest or Baclay’s word studies, it migh just enhance your appreciation of the passage. It does for those of us who do this sort of thing.

    Hope this helps.

    freewilly

Religions might indeed be scams to control the masses(or asses) as you say, since religions are really are man-made attempts to come to God on man’s own terms.

God didn’t establish any of the “religions.” Bet you didn’t know that, did you?

Instead God sent His Son to pay a terrible price for your salvation and mine. Now you and I can receive salvation as a free gift, through faith.

You MUST understand the difference between religion and Christianity, because Christianity is NOT a religion, even though there are a lot of religions that call themselves “Christian.”

Religion is man trying to reach God or become God by his (man’s) own efforts. By contrast, Christianity is God opening the door for us to enter heaven by means of the costly sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, on the cross.

All religions were started by Lucifer and his pride. As Isaiah 14 describes it:
13 For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north. 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.”

God has always sought to have a loving relationship with you and me. God wants us to trust Him and walk according to His perfect plan for our lives.

But from the very first, we humans have continually second guessed God. Adam and Eve wanted to do things their way, even though there was only one rule to follow.

After they sinned, they invented their own religion (fig leaves) to cover their shame. God rejected the fig leaf religion and introduced the concept of sacrificial offerings as the proper way to cover our shame.

You and I are no better than Adam and Eve. We always second guess God and want things our way. We always come short of His standards and His will for our lives (Romans 3:23).

Fortunately we have Jesus as our Passover Lamb. Those of us who trust in the saving power of His sacrifice have applied His shed blood to the doors of our hearts. We still come short of God’s standards, but now the price for our salvation has been paid (Romans 3:24).

By contrast, the mother of all religions is gathering its blasphemous forces in one last futile attempt to obliterate Christians, Jews and Israel from the face of the earth. Hopefully this lesson has helped you to understand the evil forces at work.

Above all, remember that Jesus loves you, personally and passionately. His love and power are the best protection you have against the forces of darkness that will soon rise to power here on earth. His truth will make you immune to the seductive lies of the beast and the False Prophet and the harlot.

If you disagree with some (or all) of my conclusions — GOOD! I’m pleased that you have the intellectual fortitude to think for yourself.

Just be sure your arguments are based on Scriptural analysis that YOU have performed, not doctrinal positions that you have been taught. If you pray for wisdom and diligently study Scriptures for yourself, the Holy Spirit will guide you in all understanding.

I would think instead of checking who has the biggest churches and having the biggest congregations that Bajans should instead study the Scriptures for themselves like the saints in Berea cited in Acts 17.

  • Georgie Porgie // July 19, 2009 at 3:31 PM

TheNickster wrote Sodom and Gomorrah? Lot was saved and slept with his own daughters, not sure you want to highlight that particular part.

Why not? The Bible doesnt mind doing that, does it?

What ever you or I might think of the behavior of Lot when his daughters got him drunk and committed incest, we read the following about Lot in 2 Peter 2:6-7

And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

The final word about Lot in the Bible is that GOD DECLARED HIM TO BE RIGHTEOUS! Wonder how that happened? Was it because of something that Lot did or did not do?

What I do know, however, is the clear teaching of Romans 4:4-5 on this issue thus:-
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Curious thing about biblical analysis, you find things that those well meaning as yourselves, fail to grasp the ramifications of. You claim christianity is a thing separate to religion though your only foundation is a book, a book that was edited and ratified by religious men. Even the very nature of Jesus was molded and crafted from the various “accounts” and finalized by committee. I find it a curious thing that one can so embrace the religion of the oppressor to the point of yearning for natural disaster. Human beings are so much more than we give ourselves credit for and it pains me to see people wearing their ailments like badges of honor, as they limp off to church weekly. Each and every one of them have the power to heal their ailments but they refuse to consider even that possibility, because they have given the power over to someone or something else. So while you prepare your rebuttal do contemplate the Nicene Creed.

I tend to agree with your prophesies with respect to increased incidences of cancer and diabetes, and the collapse of the economy.

However, the collapse of the economy will be universal as decreed in Revelation 18, our politicians and those who can afford it, wont be able to wing their way to foreign shores, and they themselves might be having great difficulty in fending for themselves.

  • Georgie Porgie // July 19, 2009 at 5:00 PM

    David
I have learned not to believe anything politicians say.

Now I can understand the prophesies of a serious Bible teacher whose predictions are based on a right division of the Word of God. For example I find that Van Impe and Hal Lindsay seem to have a good grasp of the OT predictions related to the eschaton.

On the other hand I don’t take anything that men of the cloth say that can not be supported by Scripture. I tend to be wary of a lot of contemporary preachers who often seem to be making predictions willy nilly.

I don’t know Millington in his capacity of preacher/pastor, so I can not comment on what he has said in a comprehensive way. But in my personal view his prediction as recorded in the Nation is not as unreasonable as some here opine. We are in hurricane season. It is not unreasonable to expect a hurricane of some magnitude.

At another time we can examine the test of a prophet from the scripture.

Very interesting video. Seems reasonable but I have one query. Does plate tectonics fit in with this? The basic idea as I crudely understand it, is that the equatorial regions receive the highest amount of UV and so Africa (where our species started) will have dark skinned people. So back to my question: was Africa in its present position 1 – 2 million years ago when it is believed Homo Sapiens first made his appearance?

  • Micro Mock Engineer // July 19, 2009 at 11:28 PM

Interesting angle Anon, but Homo Sapiens first made their appearance around 250,000 years ago… I suspect you are refering to earlier species of the genus Homo (e.g. Habilis, Erectus etc.). In any event, continental Africa hasnt moved much from its current position relative to the equator since the cretacious period (65 million years ago).

Why is it so difficult to believe that man could have gone to the moon? Do you think people from biblical times could have imagined man being able to fly in a plane?

Your lack of understanding of what is possible through science limits your vision!

  • Leprechaun // July 21, 2009 at 12:38 PM

    Ponder God’s Plan

“God’s plan” is the way that Christians traditionally explain things like amputations, cancer, hurricanes and car accidents. For example, if a Christian dies a painful and tragic death because of cancer, she dies as part of God’s plan. Her death has a purpose. God called her home for a reason. Even if something bad happens to a Christian, it is actually good because it is part of God’s plan.

You can see how pervasive “God’s plan” is by looking in Christian inspirational literature. For example, if we look in the book A Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, we find this remarkable paragraph in Chapter 2:

Because God made you for a reason, he also decided when you would be born and how long you would live. He planned the days of your life in advance, choosing the exact time of your birth and death. The Bible says, “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!” [Psalm 139:16]

    There is also this:

Regardless of the circumstances of your birth or who your parents are, God had a plan in creating you.

Under this view of the universe, God plans everything.

Take a moment and think about what Rick Warren said. Rick said, “He planned the days of your life in advance, choosing the exact time of your birth and death.” Let’s examine one simple implication of this statement. What this means is that God has pre-planned every abortion that has taken place on our planet.

If the concept of “God’s plan” is true, you can first of all see that God wants us to be aborting children. Every single abortion is planned by God, so God must be doing it for a reason. Second, you can see that both the mother who requests the abortion and the doctor who performs it are blameless. Since it is God who planned the abortion of the child (God chose the “exact time” of the death, according to Rick Warren), the mother and doctor are simply puppets who are fulfilling God’s plan, are they not? What about all the Christians who are fighting against abortion? If abortion is part of God’s plan, why are they fighting it? God is the all-powerful ruler of the universe, and his plan is for more than a million children a year to die in the United States through abortion. [ref] If God’s plan is true, then each one of those abortions was meticulously planned by God.

If God does not intend for us to perform abortions, is Rick Warren then wrong that God has a plan? If God has a plan, is he not the direct cause of every abortion? Simply think it through, and you will begin to see the problems in Rick’s proposition.

Think about Adolph Hitler. He was evil incarnate, and Hitler is well known for the atrocious things he did. What I would like you to do right now is to consider this statement: “Hitler is part of God’s Plan.” Think about what Rick said:

He planned the days of your life in advance, choosing the exact time of your birth and death. The Bible says, “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!” [Psalm 139:16]

    Rick also says:

God never does anything accidentally, and he never makes mistakes. He has a reason for everything he creates. Every plant and every animal was planned by God, and every person was designed with a purpose in mind.

If God has a divine plan for each of us, then he had a divine plan for Hitler too. It is when you stop to think about it deeply that the contradictions hit you.

Now let’s imagine that you say a prayer in this sort of universe. What difference does it make? God has his plan, and that plan is running down its track like a freight train. If God has a plan, then everyone who died in the Holocaust died for a reason. They had to die, and each death had meaning. Therefore, Holocaust victims could pray all day, and they would still die. The idea of a “plan” makes the idea of a “prayer-answering relationship with God” a contradiction, doesn’t it? Yet Christians seem to attach themselves to both ideas, despite the irresolvable problem the two ideas create.

Think about what God’s plan means for you personally. If the plan happens to say that you will get hit by a bus tomorrow, or that terrorists will blow you up, or that you will be shot in the head four times, then that’s what will happen. It would be the same with any disease. If you contract cancer this afternoon and die three months later, that is God’s plan for you. Praying to cure the cancer is a waste. God plans for you to die, so you will die. He has pre-programmed the exact time of your death. There is nothing you can do to change the plan — no amount of prayer will help — because your death will have meaning and your death will cause side-effects that are also part of the plan.

Who will you marry? You actually have no choice in the matter. God has pre-planned your wedding in minute detail. Rick Warren says, “God knew that those two individuals [your parents] possessed exactly the right genetic makeup to create the custom ‘you’ that he had in mind. They had the DNA God wanted to make you.” Therefore, your spouse was pre-chosen by God for you so that you would create the children who are a part of his plan. You also have no choice in the number of children you will have — God has pre-planned their births.

In addition, this sort of universe means that Hitler is blameless. Hitler was not “evil,” because Hitler had no free will at all. Hitler was simply an actor forced to play his role in God’s plan. God planned for millions of people to die in the Holocaust — he planned their deaths in exact detail according to Rick Warren. Hitler had to kill those people. Hitler was God’s puppet in making that those millions of deaths happen right on schedule.

In the same way then, every murderer is blameless. Since God has planned each of our deaths in exact detail, murderers are actually essential to God’s plan. Why do we punish them? We should be rewarding them for doing their God-planned duty. What if you get raped tomorrow and get pregnant? God did that because he planned the exact time of that child’s birth and death. God actually pre-planned your rape, and the rapist was God’s puppet. Rather than hating the rapist, we should celebrate God’s plan.

Do you believe that murderers and rapists should be rewarded? Do you believe that Hitler was sent by God to kill millions of people in the Holocaust? Do you believe that God is the direct cause of every abortion on this planet? Do you believe that you have no choice in your spouse or the number of children you have? Probably not. But that is what you are saying when you state that Hitler or cancer or anything else is part of “God’s plan.”

If you think about it as an intelligent person, you will realize that the statement “It is part of God’s plan” is one of those meaningless palliatives. When you sit down and think it through using your common sense, the statement makes no sense. That lack of sense shows us how imaginary God is.

He is making it up, plain and simple.

Don’t worry though, the carton of milk has saved us, it is merciful and not full of hatred! It also had predicted rain in August!

  • Leprechaun // July 21, 2009 at 1:50 PM

Is Peter Millington truly speaking for God or is he a ‘delusional liar’ like AlexJones says he is. Lucky for us God has given us a easy way to find out, so let us put him to the test.

In Mark 16:17-18, Jesus is very clear about what True Christians will be able to do to demonstrate their belief:

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Can Peter Millington drink poison without dying? If not, according to Jesus, he must not believe.

Simply think about it. Jesus and the Bible are quite clear about these things. And your Minister, Pastor or Priest should have the closest connection to Jesus of anyone you know. Is your Minister, Pastor or Priest following the Bible? Probably not. There is no one you know who is doing all of these things. There is no Christian on earth who can drink poison without dying.

Peter Millionton is a fraud and delusional liar.

  • Anonymous // July 21, 2009 at 1:58 PM

Are we to disregard the OT?

  • Georgie Porgie // July 21, 2009 at 4:24 PM

NO but you can not understand it properly without the New, and vice versa.

The New is in the Old CONCEALED
The Old is in the the New REVEALED.

There is a progression of revelation such that in Hebrews 1:1 we read …

    God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

The OT presents types and shadows of things to come. In the NT we see the antitypes and substance!

    Tech,

No one “forgot to bring back the camera with the footage”.

Have a look here to understand what is meant by “lost tapes” :

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106637066

The camera was left behind as planned. It was necessary to shed weight for the rocks coming back. No “footage was left behind”.

The following visits were at locations miles away and so it would not be possible to bring back something “left behind”

Lots of stuff was left behind because of weight e.g the lunar rovers

The LRO is taking pics right now which show the lunar landers and the equipment left behind and even astronaut trails.

Of course this means nothing to conspiracy theorists, evidence never does.

Allow me to try my hand at predicting future events/prophecy.

Haiti will be hit by a severe hurricane, by the way remember that its in the middle of the hurricane belt. Trinidad will NOT be hit by a severe hurricane, remember Trinidad is outside of the hurricane belt. Barbados will have people using the church as a means of social and financial mobility.

Millington, Nostradamus and I have something in common. Based on the frequency with which we make predictions and the probability of these events occuring, our prophecies will inevitably manifest.

Nostradamus is a bit more prophetic than Millington though, in that he was able to provide dates corresponding to predicted epoch altering events.

    RECALL NOTICE:

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart.

This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed “Sub-sequential Internal Non-Morality,” or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

    Some of the symptoms include:
    1. Loss of direction
    2. Foul vocal emissions
    3. Amnesia of origin
    4. Lack of peace and joy
    5. Selfish or violent behavior
    6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
    7. Fearfulness
    8. Idolatry
    9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this defect.

The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required.

The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R.
Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:
    1. Love
    2. Joy
    3. Peace
    4. Patience
    5. Kindness
    6. Goodness
    7. Faithfulness
    8. Gentleness
    9. Self control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E.. (Believers’ Instructions Before Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention!

    - GOD

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall notice, and you may contact the Father any time by ‘Knee mail’.

    Because He Lives!

How or why on earth would your ‘perfect’ God need to do a recall of what he made?
You better leave these excerpts alone .

    Cain killed Abel.
Why wasnt the defective units recalled then???

Religion, the effect of prolonged controlled madness, induced by the master slavers the asiatics(people from the continent of asia, this includes Europe since it is not seperate from asia, hence the word caucasian, and arabs). If you dont know universal law deep within your heart and being , then you are either confused by poison food(literally) for the brain or you are devoid of soul(sun power). For example universal law- murder is forbidden-,but evil dead men made exceptions. you can now murder to eat the dead and feed your soul death( the bible). you can now murder the infidel and blame allah(koran). you can now murder the murderer(asiatic men’s law). People you cannot define(breakdown) the law(divine order), because it can be tailored to suit the deeds of evil men devoid of soul. Murder is murder under all circumstances. how can a christian nation send young mend to war games?. Simple- Hypocrisy, christianity is a political illusion, war is a political game. Who is Jesus Christ? Simple- you and me, all soulful beings. Suns of the Sun. In 3d All praises to Ra, the provider of soul. Universally All praises to mind and essence of ALL.

What is responsible for the workings of nature, e.g the sun to rise and set each day, the planets not to collide with each other. This world/universe is very complex and to me , there is a Supreme Being that is in control. That same Supreme Being is also the Creator, that’s who I worship and adore. Therefore, it is because of his love for me to allow me to live that I follow the simple but difficult for the average person. I love that Supreme Being with all my heart, soul, and everything else and I love my neighbour as I love myself. It was only after I learnt to love others like I love myself, that I also learnt to except others but everyone is not my neighbour, that part is the difficult part. That’s where I’m not fully in harmony with, I’m grappling with that right now. However, I know that once I keep working on it , soon i will conquer, that’s when I can claim the victory. Try it , my friend, and you too will enjoy the feeling of satisfaction with life and respect for others.

’scientist’ quotes ‘Can any of the christians on this blog, or any one else for that matter, answer the question of whether God died when Jesus was crucified, seeing that God and Jesus are one being?’

Just being an advocate, I am me, not a label, I do not belong to any denomination (oh shoot, at first I accidentally wrote demonation..interesting that), but, surely according to the ‘written Bible’, it specifically states that Jesus did not in fact die?

So, if your question is posed on the basis of the written Bible, the basis answer lies therein and is quite clear?

  • Themis // July 26, 2009 at 9:13 AM

  • ROK // July 27, 2009 at 8:12 PM

@MME, the coming of Nibiru is the prophesy of the Mayans not mine and I have no faith in religion. Check the “coming of the second sun”. The exact date of the lining up according to the Mayan Calendar is 21 December 2013. There are other dates including 2900 calculated by some scientists who worked out that because of some cataclysmic events, the orbit of Nibiru has shifted and its return will be delayed.

As for my belief in some day of gloom and doom, I live it everyday. The only gloom and doom is mankind.

  • ROK // July 27, 2009 at 8:12 PM

    @Hopi
I not sure that it is wise to claim or believe that man did not reach the moon. That is too convenient an explanation. I suspect that from day 1, the truth about that trip was not revealed because of “divine” intervention. I also firmly believe that the same thing happened to the Mars photos. So the bottom line is, we the people have no record of what transpired up there; fuzzy photos and nuff whiteouts and blackouts.

  • ROK // July 27, 2009 at 8:14 PM

    @David

It is senseless engaging here with people who have been indoctrinated with untruths that believe them to be truths. They have no answers outside the Bible for, which is a total falsity in itself, and I have already proved to be too much for people like GP and Zoe.

One question I would like to ask though, Is Barbados that bad that we should be judged and stricken by god? What about Guyana? What about Congo and all those places where corruption is rife and human rights does not hold currency? Tell me about the atrocities in Europe and the folly being conducted by the USA?

Contrary to what the Hon. Senator thinks, there is nothing special about Barbados that warrants such attention from god. As a matter of fact, compared to the rest of the world, we may very well be considered saints. The senator has not escaped the fanaticism that comes with Christianity. He just hoping that he will be able to say, “I told you so.” but I ask him, What about Gilbert, Janet, Ivan, etc. that mash up a lot of countries, will there be something different if we get hit by a storm or hurricane? Was that God’s wrath or just the folly of man catching up with him through global warming and ozone depletion fuelled by the greed of the illuminati? God don’t need to destroy us, we doing it all by ourselves… and as the man said, it will not be the end of the world, but the end of us.

  • Micro Mock Engineer // July 27, 2009 at 10:17 PM

The “exact date of the lining up” presumably refers to the alignment of the sun, earth and centre of galaxy. Funny thing is, this happens every Dec. 21st.

I’m familiar with the 2012 myth but never encountered the Dec. 21st 2013 date. The Mayans did not prophesy the coming of Niburu… the merging of the Niburu myth with Mayan prophecy is of more recent vintage.

Any amateur astronomers on BU? I just looked over my pailing and through the clouds I could just make out Virgo’s head diving below the western horizon, the ear of grain (Spica) in her left hand brushing the moon as she descends. :-)

  • maubility // July 29, 2009 at 10:20 AM

TO ANONYMOUS—-My journey in hell, helios (under the sun) is not one of passions of the heart. This word Love describes a passion of the soul via the body. Mind is the essence of the creator. Soul is the essence of the sun. My mind controls this vehicle, decisions made by the soul are passions of the body. God is not love . The greatest sickness of men is to not know themselves. To continue with this childish interpretation of god by bondsmen called religion is to remain in the circle of helios. I don’t need to try love to gain respect, my quest is not one of respect, justice would be a better passion. Maat keeps passions at bay. Let’s be mature vehicles and deal with the essence of ALL, beyond the sun in dark matter.

First correction. 2012 is the year and not 2013. The 2012 alignment is more than just the earth, it is said to be also a time when all the planets in this solar system line up and includes nibiru which is expected to be back in time for the line up.

The other thing is that I said according to the Mayan calendar but what I should have said is, “interpretations of the Mayan calendar.”

Great shall be the battle between the forces. Nations shall rise up against nations using the dark force to shatter the earth. Weapons of force shall wipe out the earthman until half of the races of men shall be gone.

The Battle of freedom from all forms of bondage, including religion, in a nutshell.”Far in the past before atlantis existed, men they were who delved into darkness, using dark magic(priests), calling up beings from the great deep below us. Forth they came into this cycle, formless they were of another vibration, existing unseen by the children of earthmen. Only through blood (ritual blood sacrifice-religion) could they live in this world. In the ages past they were conquered by the masters, driven below to the place whence they came, but some there were who remained hidden in spaces and planes unknown to man. Lived they in atlantis as shadows, but at times appeared among men. SERPENT HEADED when the glamour was lifted but appearing to man as men among men. Crept they into the councils(governments), taking forms(bodies) that were like unto men SLAYING by their arts the chiefs of the kingdom taking their form and ruling over man. Only by sound could their faces be seen. Sought they from the kingdom of the shadows(shadow governments) to destroy man and rule in his place.” –Emerald tablets, brackets are my interpretation. All the blood shed in religious wars have enabled evil to take the form of men, now existing among man is a kind of man (mankind), who is not kind or kin to original man.

  • maubility // August 5, 2009 at 8:13 AM

This Earth we live on in terra form has survived many 2012’s and is still here. The art of war in all forms could potentially shatter the Earth. The future is not fixed, so it is not too late to change course and defeat the dark forces of destruction that plan to shatter the earth. Don’t blame it on satan, who like alqeda is a diversionary, created enemy. The enemy is within. There is your plumed serpent, men of war. “If ever there should land on this shore a people who do not work, who neither buy nor sell and who always have arms in their hands, then BEWARE that these are a people, whose only occupation is war. When you see them make war against them. Then oh my children be brave, Then oh my friends be strong, Be brave that you may not be ENSLAVED AND THAT YOUR COUNTRY MAY NOT BECOME THE POSSESION OF STRANGERS” Hongi Hika”s dying speech an inspiration for fierce maori resistence. Now if the indians in the America’s had adopted this stance against the warmongering ,crusading, religious freaks who brought Christianity as payment for slave labor, Then our future would be a changed story.

    by CARLOS ATWELL

REVEREND PETER MILLINGTON has resigned from the Senate of Barbados with immediate effect.

Not only that, but he has tendered his resignation from the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) as well.

In a SATURDAY SUN exclusive, Millington said he felt "it was time" to leave after much prayer and soul-searching.

"After weeks of prayer and much consultation with very close members of my Christian circle, I am at peace with the decision.

"I seek God in everything I do. If He tells me to run, I run; if He tells me to sit, I sit; if He tells me to speak, I speak, and I believe this is the time to resign," he said.

When asked whether it was God who told him to resign, he replied, "yes, very much so".

He added that he was not forced or asked to resign and he was thankful for the opportunity he had to serve Barbados.

"I shall really miss the late Sir John Stanley Goddard, one of the most wonderful people I have ever known in the Senate . . . but I have to obey God; I cannot say I am perfect but I am trying to be obedient.

"There has been no run-ins or heated discussions with anyone in the Senate or the DLP, I just believe it is my time to resign," he said.

Millington again stressed it was not a hasty decision, as he said he had felt uncertain of his place in both organisations "for months", which was reinforced when he was contacted by people who he said he highly respected and trusted.

"Some time ago, two people whose prophetic insight I trust told me I needed to move on, but even then I struggled with the decision and after much prayer, I finally feel comfortable," he said.

As for his future, Millington said his next steps would become known as soon as "God gives me the clarity" but added he still believed he had a contribution to make to society.

Millington recently spoke out against the rise of crime in Barbados in relation to the lack of discipline and blamed psychoanalysts for making excuses for the criminals.

In July, he was reported in the NATION as prophesying high-profile deaths and natural disasters for Barbados as he said the country had turned from God.
