Fashionable ! and trendy! very hard to reverse . However most of the blame can be placed on the adults who buy the clothes for the child.Also pressure needs to bear on the designers of the clothing wear.No product can sustain itself without consumers.Most of what the Mayor is saying has be said many times and have fallen on deaf ears unfortunately .Another approach maybe that of boycotting the clothing line of those who make the product . That is where a serious dent in the profit margin would make a difference.

After listening to the speaker someone dare to look beyond the race for excuses. Having lived for more than half my life in NY, I’ve experienced
first hand the dumb stupid behavior of the black youth. Now back home, minus the cold not much difference. My observations then as is now, parents are not stepping up to the wicket and taking guard with a mind
to dominate and put and end to this destructive path our future generation is heading.

the speaker being black was addressing a predominately black audience pants hanging down below the ass in not only found in the black race . it is found in other races as well namely Hispanic ,this is not a race issue this is an issue where fashion takes precedent and is the leading provocateur. if no one designs such garbage and put it out as :The in Thing ” there would be nothing to buy.; Design proper clothing and the consumer will respond appropriately.

Mayor Nutter was preaching to the choir, unfortunately the objects of his ire were not in the congregation. He is mayor of a City where so far this year 293 of its citizens have crossed the River Styx prematurely as a result of violence, need I say that the majority of those who exit by violent means are black?

Here is an example of the thinking that exists among some black folks in Philly, a few months ago a young woman was on the bus with one of her charges when one of he passengers objected to the way she was trying to discipline him. What did the sister do? She made a phone call and when she exited two young bloods got on the bus and started spraying the bus with gunfire luckily their aim was as atrocious as their intelligence and no one was injured.

A few years from now when that charge grows up ( if he makes it that far) and expires via a high speed lead projectile either because he was wearing the wrong colour shirt or at the hands of Philly’s finest this same mother will be crying he was a “good boy” .

Parents can step up to the plate but on the plate are a host of issues which are steeped into the culture of society. No one thing or individual or race is immune. Social media is worldwide and wether it be good or bad most of what the youth is learning is from it. THe ones in control are the adults who are sending the type of messages via T.V. Internet or Radio. A lot of which the youth are intuned to. . Yes parents do and must stepup but the job is not an easy one ,Put the Blame wher it should be on the Adults who are sending out these vicious and horrendous messages .

Why is it whenever we put the youth under pressure; the negative element, you are hit with the rebut that we need to leave the youth alone?

Who’s rebutting to leave the youth alone? Other youth, surely! Because their brains must NOT be mature enough to be considered as “adults!”

When I was young, I used to rebel…constantly. It didn’t mean I didn’t heed my parents’ warnings. I went out into the world and I realized that a lot of what they said was right…because they went through the same thing! (They didn’t let me know that at the time, though!)

So, after following my parents’ teachings, I have worked hard and stayed true to myself…and it worked! It can work for anyone. It will take a different approach for each person, but it works. Discipline the kids, yes! From EARLY! And anyone who objects to that…ignore them!
